    Cedar Point Amusement Park, which calls itself the roller coaster capital of the world, offers a number of places to grab a bite within the park gates. But sometimes it's nice to get away from the crowds and the midway for a relaxing meal. Here are a few favorite restaurants within a short drive of Cedar Point.

    Quaker Steak and Lube

    Quaker Steak and Lube replaced TGI Fridays in the Castaway Bay space at the end of the causeway. This popular chain restaurant is less than a mile from the Cedar Point causeway and offers a fun atmosphere away from the park. Open for lunch and dinner daily, Quaker Steak serves up bar food, burgers, pasta, and chicken dishes as well as seasonal specials. The full bar's menu lists an enticing array of frozen drinks.

    Tomo Hibachi at the Breakers Hotel

    Located at Cedar Point's Hotel Breakers, Tomo Hibachi offers entertainment as well as food. This Japanese-style restaurant has a traditional hibachi grill that diners sit around, and the menu features chicken, steak, sushi, and egg rolls.

    Damon's Grill & Sports Bar

    This popular rib restaurant is located on the Lake Erie waterfront behind Battery Park in Sandusky, between the Cedar Point causeway and the ferry dock. The specialty here is ribs, but that's far from all it serves. Damon's offers a full menu of tasty sandwiches, pizzas, salads, and bar-style appetizers. The view of the marina and Cedar Point beyond is spectacular. Damon's also has a bank of television sets with the latest game(s) playing.

    Red Gables Mesquite Grill

    Sandusky's Red Gables Mesquite Grill, on Route 6 about a mile east of the Cedar Point Causeway, is regarded by many as having the best steaks in the area. This elegant yet unpretentious restaurant also serves a variety of seafood dishes, pork, and pasta dishes entrees with all of the traditional side dishes. Red Gables Mesquite Grill is also committed to sustainable farming and buys most of its meat and produce locally. It is open for dinner daily.

    The Original Margaritaville

    Located on Route 6, just outside of Sandusky and Cedar Point, Margaritaville has been a summer favorite for decades. This Mexican-American restaurant has a Key West feel and huge patio with live music on the weekends. There's even a waterfall.

    The menu features fajitas, a variety of nacho combinations, enchiladas and tacos, and American burgers. As you'd expect from the name, Margaritaville specializes in those frozen, tequila concoctions; it offers 13 different varieties. Margaritaville is open for lunch and dinner daily.

    Bay Harbor Restaurant

    Located at the marina just outside of the park gates, the Bay Harbor Restaurant is a relaxing place to enjoy a special dinner overlooking Lake Erie. The menu specializes in traditional steaks and seafood with all of the fixings. Bay Harbor is open for dinner only, and it's a great place to savor the Lake Erie sunset.

    Zinc Brasserie

    This French bistro on Water Street in Sandusky is a great place to escape the hoopla of Cedar Point. The menu features traditional French favorites like onion soup gratinee and bouillabaisse, as well as a trio of Angus beef steaks. The restaurant also emphasizes local ingredients. Zinc Brasserie is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Friday and for dinner on Saturday.
