What Are Nevada's School Immunization Requirements?

Nevada's school immunization requirements are spelled out by the state Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH). To be enrolled in a public, private, or charter school, a child must be vaccinated against these diseases, or in the process of being vaccinated. It's one of those things parents must deal with at back to school time in Washoe County.

  • Diphtheria
  • Tetanus
  • Pertussis
  • Poliomyelitis
  • Rubella
  • Measles
  • Mumps
  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella

Nevada law provides exemptions to these vaccination requirements because of religious belief or medical condition. For a full explanation of these provisions, refer to the applicable Nevada state laws.

There is an additional immunization requirement for students entering the 7th grade. Before being enrolled in a public, private, or charter school, these students must be vaccinated against pertussis (commonly known as whooping cough) with the tetanus, diptheria, and acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccine. The exemptions described in the previous paragraph also apply.

Exemptions for religious belief or medical condition apply.
