Redskins Park is the training headquarters for the Washington Redskins NFL Football Team. It is not the team’s football stadium. The Redskins games are played at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland. Each summer, the team gets ready for the upcoming season at Redskins Park. Training Camp practices are open to the public. A special Fan Appreciation Day is held on a Saturday, usually in early August. The Redskins moved their training headquarters from Ashburn to Richmond, Virginia in 2013. The facility is officially named the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center and serves as a year-round resource for the community operating as a full-service sports medicine rehabilitation and men’s health center managed by the Richmond Economic Development Authority. The complex features two full-size football fields, a field house, a 1/4 mile vita course and walking/running trail, a 500-seat amphitheater, a children’s music garden, and a water wall. The amphitheater offers programming throughout the year for outdoor concerts, performances, and festivals.

The park is located at 2401 West Leigh Street, Richmond, Va. 23220. It is about 105 miles south of Washington DC and about an hour and 40 minute drive. From the Washington DC area, take I-95 South towards Richmond, Take Exit 78 for Boulevard, Keep right at the fork, follow signs to VA-161 S, Turn left onto W Moore St., Continue onto W Leigh St., Redskins Park is located off of West Leigh Street behind the Science Museum of Virginia. The City of Richmond offers a variety of parking options during training camp.

Richmond is the capital of the Commonwealth of Virginia and an interesting place to visit. Redskins Park is located next to the Science Museum of Virginia and the Children’s Museum of Richmond. These two attractions are great for the whole family, but keep in mind that because of their proximity to the park, they will be very busy during Redskins Training Camp. Within a short distance, you will find a variety of restaurants, museums, gardens and family-friendly attractions. If you have enough time when you visit, explore some of the city’s unique historic landmarks or spend a day at Kings Dominion.
