The Washington Redskins cheerleaders are the longest running cheerleading team in the NFL. They cheer and support the Redskins and help raise money for charities. They also make more than 300 appearances throughout the year at special events. The cheerleaders provide entertainment for corporate sales meetings, golf tournaments, youth camps and a variety of events for major companies. They have several different uniforms and costumes to appeal to different themed events.

The Redskins cheerleaders have established themselves as the premier squad in the NFL and have lots of adoring fans. In addition to touring with the football team, they have also performed around the world. They have entertained the armed forces in places such as Turkey, Italy, Sicily, Spain, and France.
The Washington Redskins cheerleaders have an Alumnae Association that is a non-stock organization comprised of former Washington Redskins Cheerleaders. They provide support to Washington metropolitan area local and national charities.
During the holiday season, Redskins cheerleaders wear festive uniforms and perform at a Military Appreciation Holiday Tour. Since the 1970s they have visited the injured at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Also known as the First Ladies of Football, the Redskins Cheerleaders enjoy volunteering their time to visit and entertain our troops and military families several times a year, and especially during holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The professional cheerleaders are a popular attraction that gives a team more coverage/airtime, popular local support, and increased media image. The members participate in practice, training camp, games, appearances, photo shoots, and charity events.

Redskins cheerleaders wear pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure. The campaign also offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer.
