Quick Facts About ElderTreks:

ElderTreks focuses solely on adventure travel. Trip difficulty ranges from “easy” – walking one or two miles, perhaps with some stair climbing – to “challenging” – eight to 10 hours of hiking per day. If you have mobility issues, contact the ElderTreks office to find out whether an ElderTreks trip is right for you.

ElderTreks is committed to sustainable travel and to giving back to the communities its tour guests visit. ElderTreks built an orphanage in Uganda and supports orphanages and women's shelters in several countries. Its latest charitable endeavor includes several efforts to help save the critically endangered Sumatran rhinoceros.

Nearly all expenses except airfare to and from your tour's departure point are included in your tour price, but you’ll need to check each trip’s itinerary for details.

All land tours are small group tours with a maximum of 16 participants.

Small expedition ships are used for sea and river tours.

ElderTreks offers trips created especially for hikers in addition to land-based and ship-based adventures. Destinations include Canada, Europe, Asia, Central America, South America, Africa, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

Many ElderTreks destinations do not have luxury hotels or chain restaurants. ElderTreks works hard to find accommodations that are inviting and comfortable. On rare occasions, you may have to share bathroom facilities at a particular location, but ElderTreks asks tour participants to do this only if private bathroom facilities are unavailable. Detailed tour itineraries on ElderTreks' website include information on bathroom facilities if sharing will be required.

ElderTreks can arrange your flights if you wish, but you are also free to make your own travel arrangements.

ElderTreks' ClubTrek Rewards program offers discounts to repeat customers.

ElderTreks offers travel insurance for US and Canadian tour participants only. All travelers are strongly encouraged to consider purchasing travel insurance. You must purchase medical evacuation insurance on some itineraries.

Special policies apply for US, UK and Canadian citizens traveling to Iran with ElderTreks.

If you want to go to the South Pole with ElderTreks, you can. Start saving your money, though; the trip costs $48,150.
