Although Santa Fe isn't a large city (the population is about 70,000), New Mexico's capital does have a large and lively gay community, and it throws quite a Gay Pride celebration in late June (on June 25 in 2016, but there are a number of related events throughout the city during the days before and after the weekend). Note that Albuquerque Gay Pride takes place a couple of weeks earlier, in early to mid-June, and Taos Gay Pride is held in mid-August.
The Santa Fe Pride Parade and Festival takes place at the city's famed and historic Plaza, in the heart of downtown Santa Fe. The festival runs from 1:30 until 6 pm on Saturday, following the Santa Fe Gay Pride Parade, which starts at 1 pm and proceeds along Old Santa Fe Trail from the New Mexico State Capitol building (aka, the Roundhouse) to the Plaza, then up Lincoln Avenue to the Federal Courthouse at South Federal Place. Here's a map of the Santa Fe Pride Parade route.
Entertainment at the festival includes Fantine and Scarlett Santana. Other related Santa Fe Pride events take place around that time, including parties and gatherings in the area. Check the official Santa Fe HRA calendar for details on all of these events.
Santa Fe Gay Pride kicks off just a few days before the opening of the famed Santa Fe Opera season.
