Pride Fort Lauderdale, one of the largest Pride festivals in the Southeast, has traditionally taken place in March, but in 2016 the event moved to autumn and returned to its place as a late-winter celebration in 2017. Now, the next date for the festival is set for February 11, 2018.
This 40-year-old event celebrates the growing LGBT community in the Fort Lauderdale area each year through a variety of parties, events, and special tributes organized by the national PRIDE organization.
This year's festival will include world-renowned entertainers, exhibitions from local and national artists, and food courts featuring local and national cuisine all on the world-class Fort Lauderdale Beach Park South (adjacent to B Ocean Hotel & Resort). In addition, Pride 2018 will feature a History of Pride educational area, Senior Chill Zone, Family Recreation Area, a sporting area, a Sober Zone, and a new VIP area.
A More Diverse Pride Celebration
Due to the growing number of LBGT+ residents of Fort Lauderdale and the surrounding area, the organizers for Pride Fort Lauderdale are aiming to make 2018 its most inclusive celebration to date, featuring a number of new areas to cater to the diversity of people who celebrate this annual event.
The Pride Family area is dedicated to all families, whether or not an LGBT person is involved in it, and features areas for arts and crafts, entertainment, and activities with a family-friendly focus including resources for gay and lesbian parents or parents of LGBT youth while the Pride Seniors area will be dedicated to the LGBT seniors and their allies in the community.
Due to the overwhelming number of LGBT people who struggle with addictions, Pride Fort Lauderdale is also proud to introduce the Pride Dry Area as part of the 2018 celebrations. This alcohol-free venue will serve as a place for those seeking a more sober life to enjoy Pride without the pressures of alcohol, where they can meet like-minded individuals and enjoy the day without imbibing.
For the fancier among Pride revelers, Pride Fort Lauderdale will also feature a VIP experience on the beach which includes access to a special VIP area, special VIP viewings of entertainment and artists, complimentary drinks, and even exclusive bathrooms that can save you more time for partying on the beach.
