Forget everything J.R. Ewing taught you about "Dallas", Preston Hollow has some of the most expensive and luxurious homes in the state. You don’t have to be an oil tycoon to live here but it may help pay the mortgage if you’re a professional athlete or own the team.
You might call it “surreal estate” because Preston Hollow is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Dallas. Named for the deep-wooded area with creeks and hollows, it is roughly bounded by Northwest Highway on the south, Royal Lane on the north, Preston Road on the east, and Midway Road on the west. It’s about five miles north of downtown Dallas. If you can afford the price tag, you can enjoy the luxury of privacy, security and the esteem that comes with living in Preston Hollow.
There are no cookie-cutter planned subcommunities here. Beautiful homes on lots up to 25 acres are currently on the market from less than a million dollars to $15 million. Current properties for sale range from $250 per square foot to over $1,000 per square foot. Many of the 1940s-era homes are being torn down and mansions are being built. Many homes are gated and homes under construction have their own security team.
