Pink Barre Studios Founder Tara Joiner shares her favorite spots in Atlanta

Inside Atlanta Tara Joiner

We're back with our series Inside Atlanta—each week, we sit down with influential locals to talk about what Atlanta means to them. Today we’re chatting with Pink Barre founder Tara Joiner. Physical therapist-turned-entrepreneur, the NY-native turned her passion for fitness and health into one of the most popular exercise company’s in the city when she brought barre fitness to the masses with five Atlanta-based studios, including Buckhead, Virginia Highlands and Emory Point.

Joiner moved down to Atlanta in 2011 with her family—today we get a tour of The Big Peach lead by Joiner herself.

I live in… “Buckhead in the beautiful Peachtree Battle area. I love that all of my children’s activities are within a mile or two of our home. We moved here from New York City to raise our family and love how warm welcoming everyone in Atlanta is. The pace of life is perfect for our family of five.”

I Wish People Knew… “How amazing the entrepreneurial offerings are in Atlanta, which make our city so unique and interesting. Atlanta is unique in that it has many metropolitan offerings, yet the landscape has many elements that make me feel like I live in the suburbs with the lush, beautiful landscape.”

You Can Find Me… “At one of our Pink Barre studios— sculpting and shaking at the barre!”

It’s Dinner Time, I’m headed to… Murphy’s by our VaHi studio. Best mimosas and a true Atlanta institution.

I love sitting on the patio with my family. St. Cecilia for the best bucatini in the city and the agnolotti is to die for! With my kids, I head to Antico Pizza. I love the family-style tables, community feel and authentic pizza.”

Clock strikes 5 o’clock, I’m drinking… “The Scarlet Belle at the Southern Gentleman.

It’s the perfect cocktail in my opinion. I moved here from New York City and this drink with a few Y’alls makes me feel like a native Atlantan!”

If I Had to Stay in a Hotel, I’d check into… “The St. Regis. It has impeccable design and service. I’ll book a room for a staycation and it is truly an oasis of luxury in the city.”

Atlanta’s Best Kept Secret Is…Peachtree Road Farmers Market. You can shop amazing local vendors, chat with your neighbor, and eat an amazing fresh baguette [and get] King Of Pops or a crepe while you shop on Saturday mornings.”

When I’m Playing Tourist, I… “I hop on a bike with my family. We will start at Piedmont Park and bike along the Atlanta BeltLine, stopping at the amazing coffee shops and restaurants along the trail. The Atlanta Botanical Garden is also a favorite—their Scarecrows in the Garden and Holiday Lights, as well as the concert series, are not to miss Atlanta attractions!”

I Get My Sweat On… “At Taynard Creek BeltLine trail or Chastain Park. Since I spend a lot of time each week at Pink Barre Studios, I love to take my sweat to the outdoors. I am also dabbling in tennis at Cherokee Country Club, which has such a beautiful in town location!”

I Love Spending My Money At... “Peachtree Battle Shopping Center—I love that I can support local brands that are owned by other Atlanta mompreneurs — Gramercy for home goods and linens, Mint Julep for clothing, Rivermint Finery for the perfect accessory or hostess gift are my go-to’s, and Woo for amazing cosmetics!”
