While much of the country hunkers down and tries to stay warm in February, the shortest month means high season in the desert Southwest. With a packed schedule of art festivals, sporting events, and other indoor and outdoor activities, Phoenix visitors don't have to look hard for something to do. And there's no need to worry about snow or cold ruining your plans.

The Arizona Diamondbacks fan appreciation day at Chase Field in downtown Phoenix is a free event, with clinics, autograph and photo opportunities, ballpark tours, and giveaways.

Glendale Chocolate Affaire

This festival of chocolate in downtown Glendale includes gourmet cuisine and beverages, horse-drawn carriage rides, national entertainment, and tours of Cerreta Candy Company. Free admission.

La Gran Fiesta: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage and Culture

Latin music, dance, food, and fun. A community event with a concert by the acclaimed Villalobos Brothers, activities for children and families, a mercado with handmade gifts, and Latin-inspired food and drinks. Free admission at the Scottsdale Civic Center Park.

Lost Dutchman Days

Enjoy rodeos, carnival, dance, entertainment, parade, arts, crafts, gold panning, and an RV show in Apache Junction.

Mesa-Phx Marathon
Participate in a kids 1K, 10K, half marathon, or the full 26.2 miles.

Marathon is a Boston qualifier. Starts in East Mesa and ends at Mesa Riverview.

NHRA Drag Racing
