Pat's Run is named for, and held in memory of, Pat Tillman. Pat attended Arizona State University, and was a professional football player with the Arizona Cardinals. After 9/11 he decided to enlist in the army, foregoing his multi-year, multi-million dollar contract to serve his country. On April 22, 2004, while serving in Afghanistan, he was killed in the line of duty. He was 27 years old.

Sun Devil Stadium at ASU in Tempe, AZ. See this location on Google Maps. The start is on the east side of the stadium on Packard Drive. Parking will be at a premium, so I recommend taking Valley Metro Rail to the Rural/University Station and walking. It's about a half-mile walk.
The 4.2 mile run/walk route takes place on the streets of Tempe. Participants finish on the 42-yard line on Frank Kush Field inside Sun Devil Stadium.
The Arizona Department of Transportation usually provides detailed motorist information, including any travel or road restrictions, for Pat's Run. Call 5-1-1, then *7. The call is free.
Why So Many References to the Number 42?
That was Pat Tillman's jersey number when he played for the ASU Sun Devils. (For the Arizona Cardinals, he was #40.)
