Meters, Lots and Free Parking Downtown

There is ample parking in downtown Little Rock, but some of it comes at a price.

Metered Parking

Metered Parking is available on most of the streets in the downtown area.    Regular parking meters only take change.   Parking at the regular meters is usually $1/hr but limits and pricing will vary.

Parking meters operate 8 A.M. to 6 P.M., Monday through Friday. The City also observes free parking on Saturdays and Sundays as well as certain holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Washington's Birthday, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, July 4, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after Thanksgiving, December 25th, and New Year's Day.

Pay and Display in the River Market

The River Market does not have traditional metered parking.  It utilizes "Pay and Display" meters.  These meters take change or credit cards.  You must walk to one of the Stations to obtain a Pay and Display Receipt. return to your vehicle and display the receipt on your dashboard. The receipt should be displayed in the curb-side of your dashboard. There are easy to follow instructions on the face of each Pay and Display Station. 

The Pay and Display machines are in operation from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.  You can use a ticket purchased at the machine for any Pay and Display slot in the River market District, so you can move your car to a new spot if you paid for time.

The "Pay and Display" meters are along President Clinton Avenue, the 100 block of Sherman Street and the 100 block of River Market Avenue.

  Parking at the Pay and Display Meters costs $1.25 per hour.

Free Parking

There are several free parking lots in downtown Little Rock including spaces at Second and Commerce and near the 1-30 off ramp. There is limited free parking located behind the River Market, turn left on Ottenheimer Plaza just before the Market.

Little Rock Convention and Visitor's Bureau Parking

The Little Rock Convention and Visitor's Bureau operates several pay to park parking garages.  There are 640 spots at 2nd and Main where the fee is $3 for 2 hours.  There are 596 spots at 500 East 2nd Street (called the River Market Parking Deck) for $4 for 2 hours.

Private Parking

Many private lots, most operated by Best Park LLC, charge hourly to daily rates for parking. Prices range from $3-5/day. Special event parking prices generally range from $5-10.

Parking for Persons With Disabilities

The meters are ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act) approved.   Persons with disabilities must still use the meters.  There are designated spaces for for persons with disabilities in the downtown area. Vehicles that are parked in a designated space must display the proper license plate or placard. The spots are located at the 400 block of State Street, the 100 block of Spring Street, the 300 block of Main Street, the  600 block of Main Street, the 100 block of West Markham, the 100 block of Ottenheimer Plaza and the 600 block of President Clinton Avenue.

Parking Violation Cost and Payment

If you get a ticket at a parking meter for parking overtime or a time zone violation, you will be ticketed.  The cost of the violation is $15.00 if paid within 30 days or $50.00 if paid after 30 days.  Non-meter violations are $30.00 if paid with 30 days and $45.00 if paid after 30 days.  Parking in handicap zone without a handicap placard is $100. 

You can pay violations online or you can pay them in person at the Municipal Court Building located at 600 W. Markham Street from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  They accept cash, check or credit card.  You can also mail a check or money order for the amount to  Little Rock District Court, 600 W. Markham Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72201.

Parking violations for the private lots can vary, but it is typically $15.
