Where to Watch the Oscars in Manhattan

Chris Rock will host the 88h Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, February 28, 2016 (red carpet at 7pm EST; awards ceremony at 8:30pm EST). It's Hollywood's big night, but New York will surely celebrate, too.

Attend a local Oscar party and celebrate an mock the Oscar fashions, the speeches, and the montages with other NYC film fans. Here are five of our favorite parties for watching the Oscars in NYC in 2016:

  • Murray Hill Oscar Party at Joe's Pub: An annual tradition, comedian Murray Hill is hosting a full night of Oscar celebration, commentary, impersonations, games, and more (including an audience best-and-worst-dressed contest) at Joe's Pub. 425 Lafayette St., btwn E. 4th St. & Astor Pl.;
  • Oscars Viewing Dinner Party Drag Show at KTCHN: Set within The OUT Hotel on West 42nd Street, KTCHN eatery is hosting a red carpet Oscar party complete with drag queen hosts Sheila Noxema and Harmonica Sunbeam. Expect a selection of Oscar-themed cocktails (The Mad Max, The Martian, and The DiCaprio) and a menu highlighting the restaurant's signature Italian cuisine. 508 W. 42nd St., btwn 10th & 11th aves.;
  • Oscar Viewing Party & After Party at W Times Square: Head to this trendy Times Square hotel's Living Room Lounge to watch the awards on a big screen, with Oscar-themed cocktails, free popcorn, a photo both, Oscar Bingo, and a post-show DJ-spun party. 1567 Broadway, btwn Broadway & 8th Ave.;
  • Every Single Word: The Oscars at the Bowery Ballroom: This inaugural Oscar-viewing party at the Bowery Ballroom comes with running commentary from a selection of comedians, writers, and pop culture figures like Franchesca Ramsey, Danielle Henderson, Sean Rameswaram, and more – the mildly political event is being held in response to the all-white acting nominees for two consecutive years. 6 Delancey St., btwn the Bowery & Chrystie St.,
  • The Big Oscars Quiz Thing at (Le) Poisson Rouge: This live trivia event returns to (Le) Poisson Rouge for its fourth year. The Academy Awards-themed trivia game, the Big Oscars Quiz Thing, has teams competing for pre-show fun and prizes, followed by Oscars viewing on the big screen. 158 Bleeker St., btwn Thomspon & Sullivan sts.;
