Oktoberfest around Reno and Lake Tahoe is celebrated with gusto similar to the original German version. You'll find fun celebrations of beer and food held at various venues in the Reno / Lake Tahoe region of Nevada. These fall festivals are a great way to celebrate fall and the changing of the seasons. Oktoberfest Celebrations Around Reno / Sparks
Oktoberfest at Chapel Tavern - Reno's Chapel Tavern will be having an authentic Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday, October 18, starting at 5 p.m. Oktoberfest has long been a rousing German celebration of food, beer and sport, and Chapel Tavern will bring a taste of the traditional European event to MidTown.
There will be all-you-can-drink German Märzen beer, with other imported German and locally brewed beers and house-made sausages, kraut, mustard and more. Tickets are $60 in advance, $70 at the door. You can get a first edition Chapel Tavern Oktoberfest collectible stein. Chapel Tavern is at 1099 S. Virginia Street in Reno.
Reno South Rotary Oktoberfest - This Oktoberfest celebration will be at the Wolf Run Golf Course on October 18 starting at 3 p.m. It is a benefit for the Most Improved Student Scholarship Program of Reno South Rotary. This party will offer live music, dancing, and an unlimited buffet featuring The Sausage Factory links, pork schnitzel, spaetzle, beer breads from Bavarian World and more traditional German fare.
Reno Beer Crawl - You can do a variety of beers on the fourth Saturday of every month by participating in the Reno Beer Crawl. October is no exception, so you can enjoy bar hopping for brew during Oktoberfest month.

Great Basin Brew Relay - This isn't strictly an Oktoberfest thing, but it does involve beer and supports a worthy cause - the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
The event is on October 11 and is a 40 mile relay with teams of four runners. The race begins at the Great Basin Brewery and Restaurant in Sparks, goes out to the Patagonia store in west Reno, and returns. Get more details and information about entering from Great Basin Brew Relay.
Oktoberfest Celebrations Around Lake Tahoe
Oktoberfest at Squaw Valley USA - The Village at Squaw Valley Oktoberfest takes place on Saturday, September 27, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Beer lovers and those who like traditional German fun will enjoy a variety of entertainment, including traditional Bavarian music and folk dancers. You are encouraged join in on the spirit of the event by wearing traditional lederhosen and Austrian clothing and participating in the Oktoberfest Games. This event is a fundraiser for the Tahoe Truckee Lacrosse Association. Admission is $10 and includes a specialty glass and your first beer.
Oktoberfest at Camp Richardson - The Camp Richardson Oktoberfest, held at the resort near South Lake Tahoe, will be October 4 and 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. This event features family games and activities, German food, craft booths, music by the Gruber Family Band, a pumpkin patch, costume contest for people and dogs, and a beer and wine garden.
Admission and parking are free, but get there early as this is a popular event. At the same time, and within walking and biking distance, is the Fall Fish Festival at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center.
Tahoe City Oktoberfest - The Tahoe City Oktoberfest will be at the Gatekeeper's Museum grounds on Saturday, October 4, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. The celebration is for families, even the dogs. Enjoy live music, cold beer, BBQ sausages and wieners and fun games and crafts for kids of all ages. Available food will include German BBQ by Big Blue Q of Tahoe and Ice Cream, and Hot Apple Cider by Cheri's Ice Cream. Tahoe City is on the northwest shore of Lake Tahoe, west of Incline Village.
There are various other fall and Halloween events in Tahoe City during October. These include Scarecrows on Parade, Scarecrow Sprint & Stroll, Tahoe City Urban Iditarod, Tahoe City Grill Fest, and Fall Festival & Pumpkin Patch.
