The largest city in the state, Oklahoma City has a large and quite visible gay community - in this otherwise very conservative state, this is the city with the most gay bars and gay-owned businesses. It's also home to the well-attended Oklahoma Gay Pride Festival and Parade, which is held in late June - the dates are June 24 through June 26, 2016, with events centered on the city's famed GLBT nightlife and business district, "the Strip," at NW 39th Street and N Pennsylvania Avenue.
A number of events take place during the days leading up to OKC Pride weekend - check the official Oklahoma City Gay Pride calendar for more details. The fun includes a Pride Open-Air Concert and Block Party, which are held on Friday night and always feature some top performers. The Oklahoma City Pride Festival will take place over both days of Pride weekend (June 25 and 26), with the Oklahoma Gay Pride Parade taking place on Sunday, June 26.
