Sponsored by Oklahoma City University, the Inasmuch Foundation and the Oklahoma Arts Council, Oklahoma City Children's Theatre is a unique part of the metro theatrical landscape. In addition to presenting staged productions for kids throughout the year, the company hosts camps and brings touring productions to schools. Most performances are designed for students from pre-kindergarten through 5th grade, and each season also includes a co-production with OCU intended for those older than 5th grade.
Oklahoma City Children's Theatre began downtown at the now-demolished Stage Center before moving to the fairgrounds in the late 1980's as part of City Arts Center. The move to OCU took place in 2005.
Individual ticket prices for an Oklahoma City Children's Theatre production are $8-10 for students and $10-12 for adults, depending on performance venue. Ask about discounts for groups of 20 or more. Purchase online at oklahomachildrenstheatre.org or by calling (405) 951-0011.
Members receive tickets for all performances and a 10 percent discount for classes and camps (see below). A single membership is $60 while one for a family is $100 and covers 1 adult and 3 guests.
Oklahoma City University, a private college located just north of NW 23rd in the middle of the city, hosts productions by the Oklahoma City Children's Theatre company. Some shows are presented in the Children's Center for the Arts at NW 25th and Blackwelder while others take place inside OCU's Kirkpatrick Auditorium and Burg Theatre.
Not all of what the company does is at OCU, however. In fact, a big part of Oklahoma City Children's Theatre is bringing stage productions to elementary schools all around the metro. To have them perform in your community, call (405) 606-7003.
