    When: late October 2018
    What: Parade, party, face-painting and 5K run/walk in celebration of this national holiday
    Where: Walker Square Park, 1031 S. 9th St., Milwaukee (Walker's Point)
  • Hunting Moon Pow Wow
    When: October 19-21, 2018
    What: Dance competitions, plus drum and singing competitions honoring Native Americans
    Where: Wisconsin Center, 400 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee (Downtown)
  • Milwaukee Empty Bowls
    When: October 14, 2018
    What: The entry fee supports hunger relief in Milwaukee--and you get a handmade bowl plus two soup refills.
    Where: Milwaukee School of Engineering Kern Center, 1245 N. Broadway, Milwaukee (Downtown)
    How much: $25 
  • Milwaukee Film Festival
    When: October 18 - November 1, 2018
    What: A screening of more than 100 films at various theaters throughout the city.
    Where: Landmark Oriental Theatre, Downer Theatre, Avalon Theater, Fox-Bay Cinema Grill
    How much: $12 per films, member pass - $400, non-member pass - $500
  • Oktoberfest
    When: Fridays, 5 p.m.-11 p.m. and Saturdays, 3 p.m.-midnight; September 7-October 6, 2018
    What: Sample German beer and food, and listen to German brass bands, plus participate in folk-dancing
    Where: Heidelberg Park at the Bavarian Beerhouse, 700 W. Lexington Blvd., Glendale
  • Waukesha Art Crawl
    When: 4 p.m.-10 p.m., October 6, 2018
    What: Twenty galleries and venues host 175 artists; live music and food/drink options, too
    Where: downtown Waukesha
  • Heat it Up! Milwaukee’s Bloody Mary and Chili Challenge!
    When: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018
    What: Sample a variety of local chilis and bloody marys and vote on your favorite of each.
    Where: Cathedral Square Park, 520 E. Wells St., Milwaukee
    How much: $30 for unlimited samples
  • Downtown West Allis Classic Car Show
    When: 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Sunday, October 7, 2018
    What: 500 parked classic-car vehicles along West Greenfield Avenue join food vendors, Hot Wheels races and raffles for prizes, plus trophies and plaques for the top cars in each class
    Where: downtown West Allis (West Greenfield Avenue between 70th and 76th Streets)
  • Brady Street Pet Parade
    When: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2018
    What: Critters of all shapes and sizes take to the streets for this annual pet parade and pet blessing.
    Where: Brady Street on Milwaukee's East Side
    How much: $10 - $15 per pet, registration to benefit the Wisconsin Humane Society
  • Fall Gallery Night and Day
    When: Friday and Saturday, October 19 and 20, 2018
    What: A quarterly gallery open-house featuring venues throughout the city.
    Where: throughout Milwaukee, primarily downtown and Third Ward
  • Bay View Pumpkin Pavilion
    When: 6 - 10 p.m. Wednesday, October 17 through Sunday, October 21, 2018
    What: Bay View residents carve pumpkins all week long, and then enjoy the glow of hundreds of pumpkins with games, spooky music, a black and white film and costumed attendees.

  • Milwaukee Public Market Harvest Festival
    When: 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018
    What: Featuring music and food, pumpkin bowling, scarecrow building and more.
    Where: Milwaukee Public Market, 400 N. Water St.
    How much: Food and cash donations for Hunger Task Force
  • Milwaukee Ballet: "Dracula"
    When: Thursday, October 25 - Sunday, October 28, 2018
    What: A ballet celebrating the beauty and simplicity in the Shaker movement
    Where: Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, 929 N. Water St.
