Want to get naked on a beach in France? You have options. All along the coastline on designated nude beaches as well as in secluded places and on the little islands away from the mainland, people strip off completely. Additionally there are two regions in particular, which are the best for naturist resorts and nudist beaches: the Atlantic Coast on the west coast of France and Languedoc Roussillon on the east coast.
The naturist resorts on the Atlantic coast run along the stretch of the Gironde, past the Bay d’Arcachon, and down towards the glamorous resort of Biarritz, a beautiful area of huge pine forests and Bordeaux as its main city. As for Languedoc-Roussillon, this area has great weather and the scenery is beautiful with a coast runs from Montpellier past Narbonne down to Perpignan.
The CHM Montalivet was the world's first naturalist resort ever founded and is located near Bordeaux on the Atlantic coast. The resort offers a variety of family-friendly accommodation options from camping tents to mobile homes and cottages. With over 400 acres, ten restaurants, a wine cellar, and a shopping center, you'll be free to roam the property in your birthday suit.
Another beachside resort on the Atlantic coast where you can feel the surf on your naked skin is Euronat, where you'll find a family-friendly environment with lots of naked activities like horseback riding, archery, art classes, and more. You can opt for a glamping-style tent or a full cabin for the whole family.
North of Arcachon Bay on Le Porge Beach, La Jenny is a favorite resort among naturalists. Here, you'll find direct beach access as well as a six-hole golf course a huge heated pool, and musical entertainment like cabaret shows and African drum sessions–all of which can be enjoyed in the buff. You can stay in a private forest chalet and will also find shopping boutiques, a spa, and can purchase groceries directly from the on-site fishmonger or butcher.
Camping Naturist Arnaoutchot
In Vielle-Saint-Girons, Arnaoutchot is a well-kept naturalist resort with camping and cabins available in over a hundred acres of pine forest. This resort might be of special interest to foodies with many ingredients sourced from the on-site garden and cooking lessons available. You'll also have access to Le Landes Beach, where you can strut your stuff on the sand and maybe even sign up for some surfing lessons.
Village Naturiste Aphrodite
Located just 22 miles north of Perpignan, Village Naturiste Aphrodite is a family-friendly naturist resort. It's quiet (no discos at night) and has good cabin accommodation. There's a delightful Mediterranean garden, plus lots of sports activities from tennis to windsurfing, and it has its own marina.
AddressCap d'Agde, 34300 Agde, France
Cap d'Agde is set on a small spur of land west of Beziers and south of Montpellier. It’s the best-known naturist resort in France, possibly in Europe. It’s large, with a whole village where you can shop naked, use the bank without any clothes on, and take to the naked lifestyle big time. It can be more risqué and erotic than the other quieter resorts, and it’s more adult orientated. There’s also a good beach on the bay. The whole resort is very well organized and good fun and many people come back year after year. You can also stay at the Hotel Eve, the only hotel in the resort. It's been refurbished and though it's only a 3-star hotel, is now smart and comfortable.
Plage des Grottes
AddressPlage des Grottes, 83400 Hyères, France
Further, around the coast beyond Marseille, you’ll come across the small Ile de Levant. Just near Toulon, this is part of the group of islands called the Iles d’Hyères. The first naturist village was established here, way back in the 1930s. Today, it’s a quiet island with the Plage des Grottes designated as a nude beach where you must take off your clothes.
AddressPlage de Tahiti, 83350, France
You can’t talk about nudity on the Mediterranean without the mention of St. Tropez and its renowned Tahiti Plage. Made famous, and infamous, in the 1960s by Brigitte Bardot, St. Tropez quickly became the place to bare all. It may have been overtaken by other places, but it still has a lot of glitz and glamour.
