Nudism on the Atlantic Coast
If you like the feeling of surf and the sun on your naked skin, visit the resorts along the Atlantic coast. The naturist resorts where you go totally nude run along the stretch of the Gironde between the mouth of the Gironde river, past the Bay d’Arcachon and down towards Biarritz.
The French Atlantic Coast
It’s an area of huge pine forests, with Bordeaux as its main city.
Bordeaux is one of the main wine-producing regions in France, so if you want to discover more, take a wine tour or follow a wine trail. So there’s lots of sightseeing if you can bear to be parted from your little haven among the sweet-smelling pine trees or your towel on the beach. The beaches are long stretches of glorious golden sand as far as the eye can see. Then there’s the surf which is at its rolling best around Biarritz, now one of Europe's premier surfing destinations.

Nudist Resorts on the French Atlantic Coast
All the resorts here are very well organized. Staff speak a variety of languages; there are good toilet and washing facilities, kid’s clubs, organized sports, entertainment, restaurants and bars.
You may feel a bit self-conscious at first, but don't worry. Everybody here goes naked and the stretch of beach along this coastline is virtually one long nudist beach.
Every size and shape of body is here. So give it a try; you'll be amazed how free you feel without your clothes among all the other naked bodies lying in the sun getting a tan without any of those tell-tale bikini marks.
- CHM Montalivet
46, avenue de l'Europe Vendays Montalivet
Tel.: 00 33(0)5 56 73 73 73
CHM-Montalivet (CHM stands for Centre Hélio-Marin, or sun and sea center of sun), was the world's first naturist holiday resort. It opened in 1950, and was the place where the International Naturist Federation (FNI/INF) was founded.
It’s a beautiful site, located in the Gironde on the Atlantic Ocean, with 2 kilometers of naturist beach on offer. Well laid-out like a village, it offers 573 camping spaces in well-shaded spots under the trees, a swimming pool, sauna, shop, bar and WiFi. There are spaces for camping cars and caravans as well. And this being France, the dining opportunities are pretty good, with everything from pizzerias and snack bars to a Bodega-themed restaurant with tapas and a gastronomic restaurant set beside the dunes. It’s a good family-orientated place with many returning year after year to their particular favorite ‘village’ area of the site.
Sports include tennis, handball and football amongst many others and you can join in whether you’re a beginner or very good.
Lieu Dit Depee
Tel.: 00 33 (0)5 56 09 33 33
You’ll find the Euronat naturist resort on the Atlantic coast located between the Gironde estuary and the Bay d’Arcachon. Set slightly inland in an area of pine forest, there is direct access to the wonderful seaside beaches.
Like Montalivet, it’s beautifully laid out with good spaced and large pitches for tents or caravans. There’s a massive 28 shops and restaurants, so you don’t need to leave the area at all, plus a naturist thalassotherapy centre, officially approved by the Federation Mer et Sante (Sea and Health Federation).
- La Jenny
Route de la Jenny
Tel.: 00 33 (0)5 56 26 56 90
La Jenny at Le Porge is just a little further south , just above the Bassin d’Arcachon and almost directly west of Bordeaux.
Laid out over 300 hectares of pine forest, it’s as well laid out as the others with plenty of space between the wooden chalets on offer. Each chalet, from the intimate one-bedroom apartment, a perfect place for a romantic holiday for a couple, to family-sized units, has a kitchen with a refrigerator and two hotplates, and good bathroom. Some have terraces, complete with tables and chairs.
You can enjoy naturist golf, swim in a large heated pool, or join in the various clubs and sports and activities for children and teenagers. Then there are activities for grown ups like yoga, massage, and treatments like facials.
5006 rte de Pichelèbe
Vieille Saint Girons
Tel.: 00 33 (0)5 58 49 11 11
Go a little further south and you reach Arnaoutchot. It's set in 45 hectares of pine forest around the village, with a traditional restaurant overlooking the swimming pool, a seafood restaurant, pizzeria and grocery, playgrounds and sports areas that make up Arnaoutchot. Smaller than the other Atlantic nudist resorts, it’s still a pretty busy place with lots of activities and a good party atmosphere.
You can try your hand at watercolors - naked of course, enjoy the waterpark or learn surfboarding at the beachside school.
