Looking for something fun to do for New Year's Eve in the Maryland suburbs? Luckily for those who live just outside Washington, D.C., there are plenty of parties and family-friendly celebrations to ring in the New Year. Advance ticket purchases are required for many events, so don't wait too long to make your plans for this year!

New Year's Annapolis

Enjoy a family-oriented, alcohol-free New Year’s celebration on the City Dock, so be sure to stay for the 7:30 p.m. fireworks. The celebration continues with "Dancing Under the Stars" when the Big Band sounds begin at 8 p.m. and lead to a countdown to the New Year and midnight fireworks. Some of the best places to watch the fireworks include: Susan Campbell Park, Main Street, any of the parks that face Spa Creek, or aboard a boat in the harbor.

New Year's Eve in Baltimore

Whether you prefer a lively night on the town, a romantic evening for two, or a laid-back celebration with the kids, there are lots of ways to ring in the new year in Baltimore. Enjoy fireworks, live music, dancing, family-friendly events, and more. Some favorite events include: a harbor cruise on the Chesapeake Bay, a laser show and party at Power Plant's 10-nightclub complex, and the annual fireworks display at Baltimore's Inner Harbor.

Maryland Live! Casino

As the state's largest casino, you know Maryland Live! will go all out for New Year's Eve. Dine in style on an award-winning menu, rock out at an all-inclusive '60s-themed bash at Center Stage, and celebrate the New Year in different exotic locales with themed entertainment and prize drawings. Countdown to Midnight from New York City with party favors and a champagne toast. On December 31, 2019, you can ring in the new year at the casino with a candy-themed affair at The Hall with the band Kustom Made and DJ Transit.

The Fillmore Silver Spring

Attend a concert at the region's newest live concert venue, located in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland. For the 2019 festivities, Fillmore will host an all-night R&B dance party. The party gets started at 10 p.m. and will keep going until well after midnight.

Bethesda Blues & Jazz and Supper Club

Located in Bethesda, just 30 minutes northwest of Washington, D.C., this jazz club is putting on a bluesy New Year’s Eve bash. The evening includes live performances by go-go musician E.U. as well as DJs and live broadcasts from MAJIC 102.3 and 92.7-FM. VIP tables will receive a free bottle of champagne, party favors, and front-row seats to the midnight balloon drop. There's also a discount hotel package at the nearby Hilton Garden Inn if you'd like a crash pad for the night.

DC Blues Society New Year’s Party

To celebrate the last night of 2019, the Blues Society will be putting on a celebration with Mark Wenner's Blues Warriors.The evening includes a traditional southern-style dinner, party favors, midnight champagne toast, and cash bar.  Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the music starts at 8:30 p.m. Tickets can be reserved ahead of time online.

Big Night DC

Big Night D.C. is the area's largest New Year's Eve extravaganza. More than 9,000 people head to the Gaylord National Resort and Conference Center in National Harbor, Maryland for the festivities. Running from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., the party includes 15 themed party areas encompassing the ballroom complex of the resort as well as five dance floors, an extensive line-up of bands and DJs, party favors, food and beverage buffets, midnight celebrations, and more.

New Year's Eve Swing Dance at Glen Echo Park

Swing in the New Year with music, party favors, dessert, and a sparkling cider midnight toast. A live band is set to perform American swing classics inspired by the big bands of the '40s. The event will be held from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in the Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo Park. Don't know how to swing? Beginner lessons start at 8 p.m. sharp!

This venue in Annapolis, Maryland will host the award-winning Blues musician Deanna Bogart for a show on New Year's Eve.
