From big-bash parties to laid-back live concerts, the St. Louis area has something for everyone on New Year's Eve. The city has plenty to keep you celebrating through the New Year. You can also make restaurant reservations over the holiday or bring the kids to a family-friendly event.

The New Year celebrations for 2021 aren't the same as previous years, and all restaurants, bars, and businesses in St. Louis must close by 11 p.m. on December 31, 2020. Many New Year's parties are canceled, while others have been modified to follow new guidelines. Check with event organizers to confirm the most up-to-date details.

The massive complex of Ballpark Village in downtown St. Louis is the place for sports fans to ring in the new year, with separate outdoor events happening at two local bars, Fox Sports Midwest and Sports & Social. The event starts at 7 p.m. on Dec. 31 and includes access to six venues, live music with Joe Dirt, DJs in every venue, and the only New York-style ball drop in St. Louis. Ballpark Village is located in Downtown St. Louis, right across from Busch Stadium, where the Cardinals play.

If you want to laugh on New Year's Eve, head to the Funny Bone at Westport Plaza. It's one of the St. Louis area's top comedy clubs, bringing in famous comedians from around the country. On Dec. 31, 2022, New Orleans native John Morgan is bidding goodbye to 2022 with a hilarious standup routin so thato you can start the new year in stitches. You have three options to see it, with sets at 5 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 10 p.m.

New Year's Eve at the Lemp Mansion for 2022 isn't just dinner but an entire dinner theater show. You can dine while watching and participating in the comedy-mystery dinner called "A Dickens of a Killing." It also includes champagne, party favors, and noisemakers so you can celebrate the end of the year. In 2022, dinner starts at 7 p.m. on Dec. 31.

Steinberg Skating Rink in Forest Park typically hosts a New Year's Eve party for kids and adults. Everything at the rink—tickets, rentals, food—is all payable by cash only, although there is an ATM on-site in case you forget. No reservations are required.

You can ring in 2023 on a New Year's Eve Cruise on a Gateway Arch riverboats. This year, guests can choose from a dinner cruise or a party cruise, with the former being appropriate for families. It includes live music, a plated dinner, a mock countdown to midnight, and a Champagne toast. Meanwhile, the party cruise includes hors d'oeuvres, an open bar, a costume contest, and a midnight Champagne toast. Reservations are required for either cruise, and the party cruise is only available to those 21 and up.
