Live music concerts are a favorite attraction at the New Mexico State Fair in Albuquerque and in 2017 the concert schedule is one not to miss. Along with rock legends Kenny Loggins and Kansas, the up-and-coming country duo Big & Rich will make an appearance, along with country stars Sawyer Brown, Midland, The Last Bandoleros, Aaron Lewis, and the Rank Lil' Buckers.

Both musical and rodeo performances take place in Tingley Coliseum. Concert tickets include admission to the PRCA Rodeo before the concert, or if there is no rodeo, admission to the fair. The 2017 State Fair takes place Sept.7 through Sept. 17 in Albuquerque. Tickets can be purchased at the University of New Mexico box office, by phone, or online.

New Mexico State Fair 2017 Concert Schedule

Friday, Sept. 8: Aaron Lewis and Rank Lil' Buckers (7 p.m.). Lewis showed his country bona fides with his solo album "The Road" in 2012, followed up with "Sinner."

Saturday, Sept. 9: Midland with The Last Bandoleros and PRCA Xtreme Bulls (7 p.m.) These two groups hail from Texas, with Midland offering up a traditional sound, and The Last Bandoleros blending rock, country, and Tex-Mex for their unique sound.

Wednesday, Sept. 13: Sawyer Brown and PRCA Rodeo (6:45 p.m.) Sawyer Brown brings its classic country sound to the fair. The band is famous for "Six Days on the Road," "Used to Blue," "Step That Step," and "They Don't Understand."

Thursday, Sept. 14: Kansas and PRCA Rodeo (6;45 p.m.) Kansas, with decades of legendary music behind it, is the Tingley Coliseum highlight for Thursday night.  Since the classic rock band's debut album in 1974, it has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. Most know Kansas for its iconic "Dust in the Wind" (1977), the band's only Top 10 hit. Other favorites are "Carry on Wayward Son" (1976), and "Point of Know Return" (1977).

Friday, Sept. 15: Big & Rich and PRCA Rodeo (6:45 p.m.) John Rich and Big Kenny Alphin are all about modern country, and with two back-to-back Top 10 hits ("Look at You" and "Run Away With You"), they are a duo to watch. Tim McGraw joins them on their current single, "Lovin' Lately."

Saturday, Sept. 16: Kenny Loggins and PRCA Rodeo (6:45 p.m.) Singer-songwriter and guitarist Kenny Loggins gets star billing on Saturday night at the fair. He rose to fame in the 1970s with Jim Messina in their rock group Loggins and Messina. He's got Grammys ("This Is It," "What a Fool Believes," "Footloose"), he's had hits from soundtracks ("Top Gun," "Footloose," "Caddyshack"), and he claims a long list of albums that went platinum and gold in music that crosses several genres.
