Here are some of the new hotels opening in Washington, D.C. in 2016-2017. There are micro-hotels and new luxury hotels opening soon, so be sure to try some of them out!

The trendy micro-hotel will open its first location outside of New York with a Pod-branded property in the heart of Washington DC’s Chinatown in 2016. The 11 story hotel will include 245 rooms with queen-size beds or queens with a twin bunk above to accommodate families. Although the size of the rooms will be smaller than competitive hotels, guests will still have their own private bathrooms and the hotel will feature amenities similar to other first class hotels, including a restaurant, bar and a rooftop deck. The hotel will have 12,000 square feet of food and beverage space where guests will enjoy cocktails, conversation and dining on two levels.

The Watergate Hotel

Trump International Hotel

Whether or not you support his bid for President, Donald Trump's influence will be felt in Washington DC with his new luxury hotel. The Trump Hotel is a redevelopment project that is transforming the iconic Old Post Office Pavilion into a luxury hotel with more than 270 hotel rooms, several world-class restaurants, an expansive spa, ballroom and meeting facilities, a library, a museum, and indoor and outdoor gardens. Hyatt Place National Mall

The 214-room hotel opened in November 2015 and features 16 suites, spacious room with a 42-inch flat screen TV and separate workspaces, free wi-fi, free hot breakfast, a rooftop bar and lounge and an outdoor rooftop swimming pool. The hotel is conveniently located near the National Mall and Capitol Hill.

The Wharf is a $2 billion development under construction on Washington's Southwest Waterfront. The development will include a dual-branded hotel on Parcel 5. Canopy by Hilton, a 120,000-square-foot modern-boutique hotel, will have 175 rooms and Hyatt House, a 95,000-square-foot extended-stay hotel, will have 238 rooms. The hotel lobbies on the second floor will include a café/bar and other dining options; a 1,100-square-foot fitness center; 2,875 square feet of meeting room area (consisting of four meeting rooms, one boardroom, and pre-function space); a courtyard with water features; bar and outdoor pool on rooftop; and other recreational space, including outdoor terraces. The penthouse will include an additional 10,000 square feet total between both hotels. The hotels are projected to open in Fall 2017.

The Wharf InterContinental

The 278-room hotel will be constructed during Phase I of The Wharf development. The hotel will include 17,000 square feet of water-view meeting space, a signature restaurant, spa, rooftop pool and bar with breathtaking views of downtown Washington DC. A separate entrance with private elevator will lead to a 5,000 square foot sky-view lounge on the 12th floor. The hotel will be LEED Silver, contributing to the LEED-ND Gold status of The Wharf, which features approximately three million square feet of residential, office, hotel, retail, cultural and public uses including waterfront parks, promenades, piers, and docks. The Wharf InterContinental is projected to open in Fall 2017.

The 154-room hotel will open in June 2016. Formerly the Savoy Suites Hotel, Kimpton Hotels is completing a multi-million dollar renovation, rebranding and redesign of all guest rooms, public areas, restaurant, outdoor and event spaces. The property is conveniently perched high along Wisconsin Avenue in a tree-lined, residential neighborhood on the border of Glover Archbold Park just north of Georgetown. F1RST, a 450,000 square foot mixed-use project developed by McCaffery Interests and Grosvenor Americas, is under construction on First Street SE, between M and N Streets in the Capitol Riverfront. Located next to Nationals Park, F1RST will feature 325 rental apartments, a 170-key Marriott Residence Inn, and 25,000 square feet of retail space. Marriott's Residence Inns are designed to provide extended stay travelers with everything they need to thrive on long stays. Residence Inn offers spacious suites with room to eat, work, and sleep. The hotel is expected to open in Late 2016 - Early 2017.

This site is located across the street from the Navy Yard-Ballpark metro entrance. Peebles Corporation & Walker Group will build a multi-use building with a 153 room hotel, 52 apartments and 7,000 square feet of retail in the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood. The boutique hotel will have world-class amenities including a restaurant, outdoor beer garden, and a rooftop lounge. The property has an ideal location within walking distance to The Verizon Center, Washington Convention Center, Downtown DC and the National Mall. The opening date has not yet been determined.

The 370-room upscale hotel and 70,000 additional square feet of retail will complete the CityCenterDC project in the heart of Washington DC. CityCenter DC currently contains 188,000 square feet of retail space, 216 for-sale residential units, 458 apartment units 520,000 square feet of office space, and public open space. Initial occupancy of the retail space is expected in late fall 2017, and the hotel opening in early 2018.
