The area around the Outlets of Little Rock is set to be a destination for Little Rock residents looking to relax and have a good time. Two big tenants to the Gateway Town Center promise to make this area a fun place to relax and have a good for adults, and families.
For years, Arkansans have been begging for a Dave and Busters. There's even a Facebook page, founded in 2012, with thousands of likes begging the corporation to come here.
In June, those dreams will become a reality.
Dave and Busters is basically what would happen if Chuck E. Cheese and Chili's Bar and Grill merged. It's a bar with decent food and games like skee ball, arcade games and air hockey. You win tickets, like at Chuck E. Cheese, but they have some more grown-up prizes. I've visited a few of these in other states, and they are always a lot of fun. This will be a great addition to the city's entertainment options.
Though Dave and Busters caters to adults, they are also pretty family friendly, even offering kid's birthday parties in many locations. Before 10 p.m., most locations welcome kids of all ages. Some locations have a 10 p.m. "curfew" where they kick out anyone under 21. Most locations even have a kid's menu.
Dave and Busters will be located in a 30,000-square-foot building at 10900 Bass Pro Parkway. We've known since September they were building there.
The building is actually coming along quickly, but they announced the June 2016 opening date this week.
Another great edition to the Little Rock will be a new dine-in movie theater. Movie Tavern, one of the largest in-theater dining concepts in the U.S., is planning to build in the Gateway Town Center too.
These theaters offer first run movies and a full menu, beer, wine and mixed drinks delivered to your seat in each auditorium. The seats have fold-out dining tables and the food actually looks pretty good at their other locations. Movie Tavern will not open until 2017, and no date has been set. The Little Rock Movie Tavern location will feature 46,000 square feet with 11 screens.
Though also catering to adults, Movie Tavern locations are also family friendly. Most Movie Tavern locations have a kids menu, and they do show family friendly movies like "Kung Fu Panda 3."
Movie Tavern started in Forth Worth, Texas and is owned by Southern Theatres, LLC in New Orleans. They have 187 screens in 22 locations across nine states.
Taziki’s Mediterranean Café and Gateway Nail Salon and Spa are also supposed to be headed to the Gateway Town Center soon.
It looks like Arkansans will have more excuses to head to the Otter Creek area. New dining options will be nice in the Gateway Town Center, and these are unique and fun options that Little Rock needs. With the great stores at the Outlets of Little Rock and the Bass Pro Shop and the addition of Dave and Busters and Movie Tavern, the Gateway Town Center will be a real destination for residents and tourists.
