This Greenpoint delicatessen, run by two brothers from Manhattan's Upper West Side, pays tribute to all of the old school delis they enjoyed in their youth. The newcomer definitely evokes an old world charm with a menu of Jewish comfort food. Start your day with pastrami, egg and cheese on a bagel, and wash it down with a cup of coffee. Or dine on classics like matzo ball soup, chopped liver sandwiches, potato latkes, and many other ethnic favorites.

Freek's Mill

A charming new, yet timeless, restaurant located on a quiet block in the Gowanus is named after an 18th Century Mill that stood blocks from the restaurant. Freek's Mill specializes in seasonal locally sourced cuisine and drinks. Order the smoked chicken casserole and pair it with one of their many cocktails. The homey decor lends itself to an ideal romantic evening, making it a great spot for a date.

Now that American Idol is finished, doesn't mean you've missed your opportunity to sing in front of an audience. Okay, maybe it won't be millions, but grab a few friends and book a room at this karaoke bar and Korean BBQ restaurant in the Gowanus. El Atoradero Brooklyn

This Mexican restaurant that started in a Bronx bodega recently relocated to Brooklyn. The NYC favorite known for their carnitas also serves up tasty quesadilla, burritos, and other staples at their new Prospect Heights location. If you're looking for place to celebrate Cinco De Mayo, El Atoradero has a stellar drink menu. Best part, their phone number is 718-399-TACO. Um, if you still use the phone.
