  • He has won multiple marathons.
  • He loves his adopted 120-pound Bernese Mountain Dog, Huxley.

Nathan grew up fishing and canoeing spring-fed Ozark rivers, running gravel roads, and launching his bike off anything he could find with his younger brother. As soon as he could, Nathan started traveling to the Rocky Mountains to fly fish, hike, backpack, ski, and run. He has worked at Outside Magazine and Mountain Magazine and his work has also been featured in Fortune, Quartz, and Forbes, among others. He also spent two years as an AmeriCorps volunteer in rural northwest Colorado.

Nathan graduated with a B.A. in Communications from Lindenwood University (St. Charles, Missouri) where he also wrote for the university newspaper and competed on scholarship in cross country and track. He earned an M.A. from the Missouri School of Journalism.
