If you are a veteran or a current active duty member of the military and you reside in Nassau County, Long Island, New York, then you are eligible for a discounted leisure pass that can be used in the recreational facilities throughout the county. The Lifetime Leisure Pass gives the holder discounts when using Nassau's public facilities including the tennis courts, the beaches, the golf courses, the pools, skating rinks, its marine and cabanas which are owned and operated by the Nassau County Department of Parks,  Recreation and Museus.

If you are a veteran who served in the active military, naval or air service and if you were discharged or released for reasons other than dishonorable discharge, then you, along with your spouse and your children, can now avail yourself of free access to the county's pools and other benefits that come with a county Leisure Pass, as long as you provide your proof of valid military identification.

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano commented that "After having given so much of themselves for our nation, this is the least the tNassau County can do to show our gratitude. It is my hope that we see many more veterans and military families enjoying our parks, golf courses, and all that we have to offer recreationally in the months and years to come."

When applying for the first time, you must submit a copy of your veteran's discharge papers - DD214- and your proof of Nassau County residency. There is a one-time cost for the Veteran Leisure Pass and you only need to validate your residency every three years in order to renew your pass.
