One of the more amazing sites in the Oklahoma City metro area, the Myriad Botanical Gardens is a 17-acre, nationally-renowned paradise of exotic plant life, tropical terrain and beautiful landscapes. Although the idea for the Gardens originated with the famous architect I.M. Pei way back in 1964, commissioned by city leaders including Dean A. McGee of the Kerr-McGee Corporation, the Gardens didn't open until the Summer of 1988.
There are more than 1000 different species of plants at the Myriad Botanical Gardens from 6 different continents. There are two areas of the conservatory, a Tropical Rain Forest Zone and Dry Tropical Zone. Visitors can simply explore the grounds or they can register for ecology classes, join the Myriad Gardens Foundation or volunteer at the facility.
