Dennis Jarvis/Flickr/CC BY-SA 2.0 Travelers to continental Europe have to reckon on the Mondays in their travel itinerary. As museums and other tourist attractions in Europe are often closed on Mondays, it's the one day of the week that's most liable to trip up one's vacation plans; too often do hapless visitors find themselves before the locked doors of a must-see attraction that they've allotted to the first day of the work week. Fortunately, unlike in the tourist destinations of France, Italy or Spain, for example, most of Amsterdam's museums are open even on Mondays. The attractions below are the exception to this rule; still, it's best to check the individual website of each attraction in case your itinerary can't accommodate any unexpected closures, as business hours occasionally fluctuate. It may also be useful to note that stores tend to open later on Mondays than other days of the week, usually from around 1 pm. The rest of the week, typical business hours for both stores and attractions are from 9 or 10 am to 5 or 6 pm; stores typically extend their business hours to 9 pm on Thursdays and have limited hours on Sunday, from about noon to 5 or 6 pm.
