Every fall, Long & Scott Farms opens up a giant maze made of live field corn to the public. Before you enter the maze, you will be given a map that you can decode under 3D stations located throughout the maze. There are also fill-in-the-blanks and activities that can be completed on the map while you are in the maze.
The Corn Maze
You can choose to walk through a seven-acre maze or the much smaller one-acre version.
More offbeat choices include a labyrinth, tree maze, mist maze, and Hank's Maze Craze. Employees are stationed inside the maze if you need any help, and you'll be given a flag to get their attention.
The mazes are not just a simple walk-through activity. They are adventures, filled with stations that contain clues hidden around every corner. Every year the large maze is themed differently, and a bird's eye view of the maze depicts a picture representing that year's theme. The clues that are given at each station relate to the theme and use educational references.
More Fun Stuff to Do
The property also features many other activities that are included with admission. Each year, the farm sets up a 60-foot slide, playground and wind tunnel, along with the small mazes. Other optional activities that can be added onto the price of admission are hay rides, fishing for children and a giant pillow jump.
Farm Fresh Feast
Scott's Country Cafe serves up biscuits and gravy, cheese grits, pulled pork and farmer's club sandwiches, veggie wraps, chicken salad croissants and cheeseburgers, fresh-squeezed lemonade and hand-scooped milkshakes. And then the main event: Zellwood corn chowder, with Zellwood sweet corn, the farm's signature crop; potatoes; onions; red pepper; and bacon accompanied by a corn muffin. The chowder alone is worth the trip.
All cafe offerings are made with produce grown on the farm or from local growers. Hours change seasonally. Check out the market for produce fresh from the farm while you're eating at the caf
The maze is only open to groups that have made reservations Tuesday through Friday but is open to the public on Saturday and Sunday. Check out their website for the latest information on hours and admission, along with days it is open.
