Detroit's second casino hotel, MotorCity Casino Hotel, opened in November of 2008. The 400-room, 17-story hotel tower is attached to MotorCity's existing casino, which was recently expanded to 100,000 square feet and redesigned inside and out. MotorCity is owned by Marian Ilitch.
MotorCity Casino Hotel: Exterior at Night
While the hotel tower is just part of the $300 Million MotorCity expansion, it's definitely the most colorful part with exterior lighting that shines for miles at night. Its "funky retro" design was part of an intent to bring in automobile elements appropriate to the "Motor City." This was accomplished by bringing in a noted automobile designer, Chip Foose, who utilized several automobile-design elements from the book Future Retro.

Bathroom amenities include marble floors, deep tubs, large showers and complimentary bathrobes.

The casino expansion and hotel addition are just part of the overall plan. The rest of the complex will roll out in phases and includes a 1200-seat theater, convention center and upscale restaurant on the top floor of the hotel.
