Mother's Day calls for something special for the lady who is special to every family. There are a variety of options for Mother's Day Brunch in Albuquerque, from casual to elegant. Consider taking Mom out for a well deserved dining experience this year.

    The well loved Artichoke Cafe features savory salmon crepes, Sicilian baked eggs, quiche Florentine, steamed artichokes, roasted garlic, charcuterie plate, crab cakes, soups, salads, entrees and strawberry shortcake for dessert.     Breakfast items include omelets and eggs made to order, banana hotcakes, blueberry and pecan hotcakes, sausage and smoked bacon, home fried potatoes and green and red chile. There will be fresh fruit, yogurt, housemade granola and assorted pastries and breads. The Farmer's Market display includes imported cheeses, spinach and strawberry salad, housemade dressings, organic greens, mason jar salad, baby mozzarella and split pea and ham soup.  There will be peel and eat shrimp, coctel de camarones, a variety of sushi rolls and pasta cooked to order. The carving station features herb crusted prime rib, New Mexico red clay baked pork loin with red chile demi glace, and grilled pineapple relish. Chef's specialties include roasted salmon, blackened NY steaks, agave-glazed chicken, spring vegetables and mashed potatoes. Sweet treats include a house made truffle display, a build your own strawberry shortcake station and a display of cakes, pies, coolies and mini French pastries. Reservations are highly recommended.

    Blades has established a reputation for fine dining in Placitas. Join them for Mother's Day brunch. Their brunch menu includes a smoked salmon platter, soup, salads, brunch favorites such as steak and eggs, banana pancakes and eggs Benedict. Entrees include croque monsieur and fettucini alla carbonara. Dessert choices include creme brulee and bread pudding. Blade's Bistro is in the Homestead Village.

    The regular menu also includes chef's additions for Mother's Day. Start with breakfast items such as huevos rancheros, chocolate strawberry pancakes, build your own omelet, veggie skillet omelet, a New Mexico chorizo skillet, steak and eggs, or steak and enchiladas. Soups and starters include green chile stew and cream of asparagus soup, spring salad, panzanella salad, cobb salad, Caesar salad and shrimp cocktail. Brunch favorites include southwest chicken pasta, a classic burger, pan seared salmon, shrimp florentine pasta, and several varieties of steak. Desserts include key lime pie and strawberry banana split-wich. The kids' menu items are $5 each and include PB&J, cheeseburger, cod crisper and chicken tenders.

    If you’re looking for truly local flavor, try El Pinto. El Pinto offers its regular Sunday brunch menu for chile lovers. Try the Eggs Benedict, which includes eggs and pork loin on a green chile biscuit with a red hollandaise sauce, or green chile cheese biscuits smothered in green chile white gravy with a side of chorizo.

    Fresh means so many things, but when it comes to food, it's such a welcome descriptor!     The Forque Kitchen and Bar at the Hyatt downtown features a variety of buffets. Breakfast items include omelet and waffle stations, fresh fruits, breafast meats, eggs, potatoes and more. Buffet items included a cheese board, cured meats, salads, smoked salmon, grilled and chilled shrimp, tuna tataki, and orzo salad. Entree choices are (one only) adobo rubbed pork, pan roasted snapper, grilled flat iron steak, or shrimp and grits. The sweets station inlcudes petit fours, small desserts, French macarons, and assorted cakes and pies.

    The MCM Elegante offers Mom a special brunch with live music. Start with breakfast items that include cooked to order omelets, eggs, bacon, hash browns, sausage, a waffle station and assorted pastries. You'll also find a carving station, veggies and entrees.  Finish the meal off with pies, and cakes.

    The Corn Maiden and Santa Ana Cafe will have a buffet brunch for Mother's Day. The carving station features prime rib, honey dijon pork loin and baby squash and asparagus.     Season's offers two brunch options for Mother's Day in addition to regular dining. First option is an all you can eat buffet that includes a carving station with prime rib, glazed ham and wood fired chicken, along with classic breakfast items. Seating times are 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

    The a-la-carte menu seats anytime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and features house favorites.

There will be a made to order omelet station. At 3 p.m., the breakfast items will switch over to an Italian station. Other items include Alaskan crab legs, whole poached salmon, peel and eat shrimp and oysters on the half shell. There will be soups and salads, a carving station with slow roasted prime rib and honey glazed ham. An Asian station features fried shrimp, crab, beef and broccoli, chicken teriyaki, fried tilapia, lo mein, crawfish, fried rice, tofu stif fry, and egg drop soup. Chef's specials include yellow tuna, cioppino seafood stew, fried shrimp and bay scallops, pork ribs, pulled pork with BBQ, roasted turkey, fried chicken, baked and mashed potatoes, rice pilaf and seasonal vegetables. There will be hand tossed pizzas and calzones. South of the Border items include carne adovada, cheese enchiladas, and a build your own taco bar. Pasta will be made to order, as well as mussels. An Italian station includes parmesan chicken, beef lasagna, baked ziti and more. Finish it with the dessert display. The Kid's Korner includes mac and cheese, chicken tenders, mini corn dogs and tater tots.
