If you haven't picked your costume yet, Google just updated their Frightgeist tool which lets you know the most popular costumes in your area. If you're looking to stand out, you might want to avoid the five most popular costumes in Little Rock, as seen below.
These costumes are for all age groups combined, though I do have a breakdown at the bottom of the list. You can find out what the most popular costume for your kids, your pets and yourself are. It's surprising that political costumes didn't rank higher (but for adults, they still rank pretty high).
Google Frightgeist uses search information to find out which ones will be the most popular. These are actually just the most widely searched costumes.

Harley Quinn was the top costume in 2015 too. She is even more popular now because of the recent "Suicide Squad" movie. DC Comics is popular in Little Rock this year. If you haven't seen "Suicide Squad," Harley is the female version and sidekick to the Joker. She has his same psychotic joie de vivre. There are more risque Harley Quinn costumes for adults and I've noticed kid's version this year too.
The second most searched costume in Little Rock is "Toy Story." I'm not sure what accounts for the boost in popularity this year, but Buzz, Jessie and Woody are always popular with children. "Toy Story" is a popular Pixar movie series where toys come to life. I think these costumes are probably more popular with kids than adults, but I have seen a few adults dressed in Toy Story costumes and it makes a nice group costume for a family. Mom and dad can be Woody and Jessie, the kids can be some of the toys.
The Joker is another DC Comic character. He's one of the biggest villains in the DC Universe and his main foe is Batman. He pals around with Harley Quinn, who ranks as costume number one. Some of the most popular group costumes are DC Comic characters. A popular couples costume is the Joker and Harley Quinn.
Superhero is pretty vague. Everyone from Captain America, Black Widow and the rest of the Avengers team to Aquaman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are superheros. These costumes are always popular, and there are at least a hundred different superheros to choose from. Adults, teens, kids and even pets all look great dressed as superheros.
Batman is, of course, one of the biggest heroes of the DC Universe. He ranks below the Joker and Harley in popularity this year. It must just be more fun to play a villain. That being said, Batman is pretty popular in both sexes and all ages. It's even a popular pet costume.
For children, the most popular costumes are superheros, princesses, animals (like dogs, cats, lions, monkeys), DC Comic characters (Batman and Joker), and Star Wars characters are number five. An ideal kid's costume should be easy to walk in, visible for trick-or-treating and allow children to see where they are walking.
For teenagers, batman characters like Harley and the Joker are the number one choice. The next most popular costumes are witches, an animal (like a cat, dog or lion), Marvel (Deadpool, Spiderman, etc.) and DC Superheros are tied. Tie: Marvel Superhero & DC Superhero (Wonder Woman, Superman, excluding Batman) and vampires are the number five choice. Teens tend to like unique costumes, so try combining two favorite characters for a fun mash-up.
For adults, witches and pirates are pretty popular. The third most popular costume this year is political themed (like Trump or Clinton). Vampires and DC Comic characters round out the top five. Political twist costumes are going to be popular this year, with the election. I imagine there will be a few Harambe costumes as well. Those kind of unique, funny or punny costumes are usually popular at adult costume parties.
Nothing is cuter than a pet costume. The top five costumes for your pet are a pumpkin, hot dog, bumble bee, lions and Star Wars characters are tied and the devil is number five.
