Montreal Wine Show La Grande Dégustation: The Ultimate Wine Event in the City
Not to be confused with the now defunct Montreal Wine and Spirits Show, La Grande Dégustation is the juggernaut of Montreal wine events which first debuted in October 2011 with 1,500 wines, beers and spirits from 20 countries on offer for tasting and purchasing purposes. The wine show attracts 13,000 visitors over its three-day run.
In 2017, La Grande Dégustation is open to the public November 2 through November 4, 2017 and features 1,500 different wines from roughly 200 producers. Among them are hard-to-come-by private imports which, in many cases are not available in Quebec but can be bought on location. More on rates and delivery dates further below.
Montreal Wine Show La Grande Dégustation: How It Works
Attendees first pay admission for access to the showroom (the entrance fee grants attendees a wine guide and a wine glass). Attendees must then purchase tasting tickets in order to sample available wines at the show, which vary in price, depending on the product. Roughly-speaking, expect to spend around $60 in one evening at La Grande Dégustation, admission fees and tasting tickets included.
Enjoyed a Private Import? Buy It on the Spot
Discovered a gem at La Grande Dégustation but it's not available at the SAQ? Not a problem.
Simply tell the representative who just served you a sample of whatever wine caught your fancy that you'd like to buy a bottle. Or a case. Some distributors/producers sell by the bottle. Some don't. Just find out the specifics and see if it meets your budget.
