Montreal St. Patrick's Day 2017 Events: From Luncheons to Irish Breakfasts
Montreal St. Patrick's Day 2017 events are much like St. Paddy's activities of years past.
Breakfast events, Irish pub fun, live music and of course, the parade, St. Patrick's Day itself might be on March 17 but the fun spreads out across several days.Continue to 2 of 8 below.

Montreal St. Patrick's Day 2017 Events: St. Patrick's Society Luncheon
Founded in 1834, the St. Patrick's Society of Montreal aims to bring together as well as support Canada's Irish community. Its annual St. Patrick's Day Luncheon is one of its many social traditions, an event crowned by a guest speaker. In 2016, it was Montreal mayor Denis Coderre. The guest speaker in 2017 is John Rae, Executive Vice-President of Power Corporation of Canada.
Admission to the March 2017 St. Patrick's Society Luncheon held at Plaza Centre Ville is $95 per person, more for corporate tables. Doors open at 11 a.m.Continue to 3 of 8 below.

Montreal St. Patrick's Day 2017 Events: Hurleys!
How can I not mention Hurleys and St. Patrick's Day in the same breath? Everyone loves this pub. That's why it's usually so packed. Mind you, the rest of Montreal's top Irish pubs draw crowds too. But some of the most crowded nights of my life were jockeying for elbow space on the first floor and yet people still found room to break out a few Irish steps.
So personal space is something you must commit to saying goodbye to upon entering its doors, especially during St. Patrick's Day festivities. It's been this way for at least 20 years.
But what an atmosphere. The decor, live fiddling and rambunctious happy crowd might trick you into thinking you landed in Dublin.
So in 2017, Hurleys proposes a buffet breakfast on March 17, 2017 from roughly 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. From what I was told, crowds are as thin as they get for Hurleys on this particular breakfast morn since patrons tend to file in on St. Patrick's Day in the late afternoon or just after work and start... the party then and apparently quite a few attend the luncheon and then pop in for a gargle. Cost is $20 per person and includes an Irish coffee.
On Saturday, March 18, 2017, Hurleys airs 6 Nations rugby matches and there's also a breakfast buffet for the occasion, but this one doesn't come with an Irish coffee. It's $20 per person and available with the morning game.
And of course, the biggest brekkie of all was on parade day, March 19, 2017. It starts at 8 a.m. and runs until noon. A breakfast buffet complete with sausages, soda bread, mashed potatoes à la Irish and other native delights are on the menu. It $20 per person and includes an Irish coffee. Get there early to secure a spot.Continue to 4 of 8 below.

Montreal St. Patrick's Day 2017 Events: Mad Hatter Pub
All hail Mad Hatter Pub's traditional St. Patrick's Day lamb Guinness stew, an annual tradition offered as of 11 a.m. on March 16, 2017. There should be enough of it to last through to parade day on March 19, 2017. It's $5 per portion. And on Thursday, March 16, the first 50 shots of Jamieson are only $1. Get them while you can.
Mad Hatter's also proposes a parade day breakfast on parade day as of 9 a.m.Continue to 5 of 8 below.

Montreal St. Patrick's Day 2017 Events: Irish Embassy
I've got a soft spot for Irish Embassy and its consistently friendly staff coupled with a roomy pub that yes, gets packed, but even when it does, you don't necessarily feel jostled or constrained. It's magic like that ;-)
So St. Paddys at Irish Embassy? Snooze and you lose. Lineups can get fierce.
On Friday, March 17, 2017, Irish Embassy proposes an early morning breakfast from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. It's $15 and includes an Irish coffee. Then live music kicks off at 4 p.m. with Salty Dog who passes on the baton to Dwane Dixon Band at 10 p.m.
And on parade day, Sunday, March 19, 2017, yet more Irish breakfasts will be served from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Live Celtic music courtesy of Salty Dog kicks in yet again at 10 a.m. and by 5 p.m., it switches to Kitchen Party.Continue to 6 of 8 below.

Montreal St. Patrick's Day 2017 Events: Ye Olde Orchard
All six of Ye Olde Orchard's locations propose live music on St. Patrick's Day proper, March 17, 2017 as of 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. Of note is local musician Shane Murphy playing at the downtown location on de la Montagne Street as of 10 p.m.
This year's St. Patrick's Day is particularly special with the pub franchise opening a new location at 381 Laurier West, debuting its first home-brewed beers at the franchise's first official brewpub.
As for parade day, the brekkie locale of choice is naturally Ye Olde's downtown pub on de la Montagne Street, just south of Ste. Catherine Street where the St. Paddy's parade takes hold as of noon. Served as of 9 a.m., the menu is your standard à la carte, though if I were a ravenous carnivore, I'd opt for the Hearty Highlander, a three eggs with three meats (bacon, ham, sausage) brekkie complete with potatoes, tomatoes, and Irish toast. It's in the $15 to $20 range.
Then as 2 p.m., the downtown Ye Olde location features... live music with Good Time Charlie. The Plateau location just west of St. Laurent proposes singer-songwriter Stewart Burrows as of 2 p.m. and may be your best bet for a nearby post-parade location to score a seat, given it's a good 15-minute walk away from parade territory.Continue to 7 of 8 below.

Montreal St. Patrick's Day 2017 Events: McKibbins
For the purposes of St. Patrick's Day proper, McKibbins' downtown spot on Bishop proposes a brekkie from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on March 17, 2017 complete with live music by Mariners Curse kicking in as of 10 a.m., with the band going strong until 2 p.m. Breakfast is $15 and includes an Irish coffee. Live music continues as of 4 p.m. with Belfast Andi & the Swift Years and by 10 p.m., Celtic Grace Dancers perform a few steps until 10:30 p.m. with yet more live music persisting into the wee hours with local band This Side Up.
McKibbins' Pointe-Claire, boulevard St. Laurent, and Vaudreuil St. Patrick's Day after noon and evening schedules are similar to the downtown location's except different musicians are handling live music duties and Celtic Grace Dancers perform at different times. Breakfast is... served St. Patrick's Day morning at the Main and Pointe-Claire locations. Check the schedule for each McKibbins pub.
And parade day? If you have your heart set on catching Montreal's St. Patrick's Day Parade, consider the convenience (and early morning parking options in the heart of parade central) of McKibbin's downtown location on Sunday, March 19, 2017. Breakfast is served as of 8 a.m. and live music with Belfast Andi & the Swift Years also starts at 8 a.m. running through 1 p.m., giving patrons plenty of time to enjoy some grub, a couple of morning pints and freshen up in time for the first floats at noon. But get there early if you want a seat. Otherwise, head to the boulevard St. Laurent pub for your Irish breakfast fix and walk 15 minutes to the parade when you're done.Continue to 8 of 8 below.
