Montreal Dog Show

The Montreal Dog Show 2014 edition features Blue Ribbon therapy dogs.

They help the local community by spending time with seniors, children and even university students stressed out during exam period, soothing nerves and offering comfort to those in need. Every November in Montreal, the United Kennel Club of Montreal proposes a three-day event starring man's proverbial best friend, the beloved dog. With hundreds of dogs, breeders and vendors under one roof, it's possibly the best opportunity of the year to rub shoulders with hundreds of well-trained canines and their passionate human entourage in Montreal.

Montreal Dog Show: The Competition, The Vendors
From Rhodesian ridgebacks to Tibetan terriers, roughly 100 different dog breeds are on location, primed to compete in rally and obedience trials. Vendor booths are also a part of the annual Montreal Show offering different services, supplies and crafts related to all things canine.

I Love Dogs But I Don't Have One at Home... Is This Show Only for Dog Owners?
If you're concerned that the event is a series of booths featuring the latest in dog collar technology that risks boring the life out of anyone who doesn't actually own a dog, don't be. This show is for everyone who's a dog lover, not just dog owners. I can't think of a better place to learn about dog behavior, temperament, and body language as well as the appropriate protocol for approaching everyday dogs you see on the street in a respectful manner.

In my experience, professionals and amateurs passionate about canines love nothing more than to educate the public and answer pressing questions and concerns. I would also say that if you're considering taking the big leap into dog ownership, this is the ideal occasion to get a sense of whether you're ready for the challenges and rewards that come along with this kind of commitment.

And meeting the dogs on location is a treat in itself.

Can I Bring My Dog to the Show?
If your dog is registered in competition or for any other activity on site, then sure. Otherwise, keep your canine friends at home. Only registered dogs are allowed on the premises.
