Montreal convention centre Palais des congrès hosts hundreds of conferences, special events and public shows every year. Naturally, exhibitors, speakers and attendees want the most convenient accommodations. Here's where my carefully curated list comes in.
These hotels as listed below are, for the most part, less than five minutes if not seconds away from Palais des congrès by foot.
And they're not just for people headed to the convention centre.
Montreal Convention Centre Hotels: Le Dauphin
Reasonable prices and a killer location barely one minute away by foot from Palais des Congrès, Dauphin Montreal Downtown offers competitive room rates, probably the most affordable within such close proximity to the convention centre depending on what deals competitors are offerings any given day.
Rooms come with complimentary breakfast, a desktop computer, and free access to an exercise room, a washing machine and dryer, among other amenities.
Montreal Convention Centre Hotels: Auberge Bonaparte
I don't think I've ever heard one bad word from anyone on the subject Auberge Bonaparte. And I've had my ear to Montreal's tourism ground for nearly a decade. The value for what you get from this boutique hotel --5-star level service in 4-star accommodations with competitive rates, complimentary and elegantly prepared three course breakfast, rooftop terrace overlooking the Notre-Dame Basilica charming rooms, stellar cuisine in the hotel restaurant-- is undeniable.
One of Montreal's best, and less than five minutes away from Palais des congrès by foot. Note that the exercise room is separate from the Auberge.
Montreal Convention Centre Hotels: Le Saint-James
One of Montreal's finest luxury accommodations, Le Saint-James is an elegant old Montreal boutique hotel connected to Montreal's underground city attracting both business and Hollywood elite as well as refined pleasure seekers.
For Montreal convention purposes, it's faster to just walk outside to get to Palais des congrès from the hotel, think 3 minutes tops, but if an earth-shattering blizzard takes over the city, at least you have the option of going underground to be left unscathed, with nary a hair out of place. Anticipate 5-star treatment at 5-star prices.
Montreal Convention Centre Hotels: Holiday Inn Chinatown
Holiday Inn Downtown Montreal is a Chinatown landmark and delightfully close to Montreal's largest convention centre, Palais des congrès. Prices are on the reasonable end too.
Just a word to the mini-bar-obsessed: rooms don't come with a mini-fridge nor microwave. But restaurant options are near limitless in this part of town. Lots of cheap eats too like a brilliant Chinese bakery just across the street.
Montreal Convention Centre Hotels: Place d'Armes Hôtel & Suites
Places d'Armes Hôtel & Suites comes highly recommended, what, with its stylish rooms, irreproachable service, and amazing Old Montreal location overlooking Place d'Armes Square and the Notre-Dame Basilica.
Montreal Convention Centre Hotels: Embassy Suites by Hilton
Embassy Suites by Hilton is perfectly situated for Montreal convention centre attendees, speakers and exhibitors. The four-star hotel is across the street. Horrid weather? Leave your coat at home. Make a dash for the other side which gives access to Palais des congrès and Montreal's underground city.
Solid guest feedback is Embassy's four-star norm. Rooms come with jet bath tubs. Suites come with basic kitchen facilities (book an executive room if you want a stove).
Complimentary breakfasts are part of the package as is an accent on family services and accessibility with wheelchair accessible rooms, braille elevator, and visual alarms for the hearing impaired.
Montreal Convention Centre Hotels: Westin
Business class, four-star magic is anything but in short supply around Montreal's Palais des congrès, with Le Westin a quick 30-second walk across the street from the convention centre.
Equipped with standard amenities such as 24/7 access to an in-house fitness centre, keep your eyes peeled for Le Westin's indoor glass bottom pool. Just look up from the driveway. Bathers looking for a touch more discretion have optional access to two other adjacent pools.
Montreal Convention Centre Hotels: Le Saint-Sulpice
Travelers love Le Saint-Sulpice and its European feel. The location is idyllic, overlooking one of Old Montreal's cobblestone roads with the Notre-Dame Basilica towering over as its neighbor.
An at most 5-minute walk to Montreal convention centre Palais des congrès, you're within walking distance of some of Montreal's best restaurants. On topic, like jazz? Try Modavie. It's two minutes away by foot. Or keep walking for an amazing time at Le Bremner or a spot of bubbly at La Champagnerie. Or keep it simple and stick around the hotel, lingering on its courtyard garden terrace with a cold glass of rosé.
Montreal Convention Centre Hotels: Courtyard Montreal Downtown
What I like about Courtyard Montreal Downtown's location, apart from its proximity to Montreal convention centre Palais des congrès, is how close it is to Place des Festivals, the city's outdoor festival hub for major events like the Montreal Jazz Festival, Just for Laughs, Montréal en Lumière and Nuit Blanche.
Montreal Convention Centre Hotels: Intercontinental
Heading to Montreal's largest convention centre in the middle of a blizzard? You won't even need to bring a jacket if you stay Intercontinental Montreal since it's directly linked to Montreal's underground city and by extension, the Palais des congrès itself.
On-site perks include a health club with personal trainers and massage therapists, a dry sauna and the pièce de résistance, one of the city's rare salt water pools, in this case, a lap pool 15 metres (49 feet) long.
