Montreal Comiccon 2017 Guide
Montreal Comiccon: From Manga to Sci-Fi
When Montreal Comiccon first debuted in 2006, around the same time New York premiered its own version of what's been a San Diego tradition since 1970, the event was strictly about comic books. And it was small. Fast-forward four years and the two-day conference first held every September expanded beyond print to include television and film covering genres as varied as fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and even hints of pro wrestling.
By 2012, the event extended its usual two-day run to three days, if only to accommodate its growing list of featured guests. By 2013, attendance peaked at 42,000, roughly 10,000 above its previous year. And by 2015, the event's usual September dates had to be shifted to July if only to accommodate even bigger crowds since organizers claimed that the venue, Palais des congrès, could grant more space in the summer.
In 2017, Montreal Comiccon runs July 7 to July 9, 2017. Admission runs from $5 for a one-day child's pass... to $219 for a 3-day VIP pass. Special panel presentations may cost extra.

Montreal Comiccon: Buy Tickets Online
Buying tickets ahead of time is strongly recommended as the three-day event is known to sell out. For example, in 2011, organizers ran out of tickets and had to start turning people away as of 2:30 p.m. on Day 1, barely three hours into the event.
Montreal Comiccon: Tips for Beating Lineups
Montreal Comiccon lineups, from catching a guest panel to buying an autograph to getting into Comiccon at all, are practically inevitable. Apart from arming yourself with zen-like patience, one way to at least avoid the massive lineup at the door is to get there as early as you can, preferably in the morning. As for panels, get there at least 30 minutes in advance for a decent seat.
Montreal Comiccon's Main Attractions
