Why should women have all the fun? While it’s clear that in Buenos Aires, as in almost any city in the world, women have the best choices, there are still plenty of stores for men. You’ll find international brands as well as a few local chains. Here we highlight a few local Argentine chains in the Palermo Viejo neighborhood to visit on your trip to the Argentine capital.
Ask your hotel about the myriad of other options, or look for shopping maps and booklets like Go Palermo or the Mapas de Buenos Aires shopping map series.
It’s the décor as well as the clothes which will strike you in the main branch of this uniquely Argentine men’s apparel chain. It’s in a converted warehouse in Palermo Viejo, with dragons and other Asian ornamentation throughout its two floors of space. You’ll find jeans, t-shirts, and some great club clothes, ideal for the young man out on the town. Hours are Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. El Salvador 4677 in the Palermo Viejo neighborhood (and other locations). +54-11/4833-3975.
This is one of Buenos Aires’ best casual clothing stores for men, with everything from sportswear to jeans to fashion underwear, which always makes for an interesting souvenir. The New York Times has a great article about the store by travel writer Matt Gross.
The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Gurruchaga 1581 in the Palermo Viejo neighborhood (and other locations). +54/11-4832-6284.
This is one of my favorite stores in Buenos Aires, with a great selection for both men and women. Still, unlike most mixed stores which have a small section for men, Mancini has a large men’s selection.
It’s especially a good choice if you’re looking for an urban, sophisticated style, with an emphasis on black. That of course, also makes it great if you need a last minute tango ready outfit too. Open Monday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Honduras 5140 in the Palermo Viejo neighborhood (and other locations). +54/11-4832-7570.
From clothing to home furnishings with a masculine, metrosexual bent, this store has everything for the male shopper. Clothes are often simple patterns or solids, with many of the items made in Argentina. There is also a great selection of shoes and leather accessories, a fantastic way to bring home something to remind you of your trip to Argentina. Open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Honduras 4718 in the Palermo Viejo neighborhood (and other locations). +54/11-4832-8540.
