Highlights of the Memphis race schedule for 2016 will have Bluff City runners ready for a great year.

Hill and Dale 8 Miler

The Hill and Dale 8 Miler will be Jan. 2 in Millington. The 37th Annual Hill and Dale 8 Miler covers a variety of terrain throughout Meeman Shelby Forest State Park near Millington. The race starts at 11 a.m. It starts and finishes near Shelter 6 with registration in the Recreation Lodge.

The race is on roads and paved paths.

Memphis Winter Off-Road Race Series

The Memphis Runners Track Club presents its annual off-road race series with 3K, 5K, 8K and 10K races that begin Jan. 10 with a 3K race at 2 p.m. at Overton Park, starting and finishing near the Veteran’s Memorial Plaza. The 5K race is Jan. 24 at 2 p.m. at Nesbit Park in Bartlett (aka Stanky Creek). The 8K is Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. at Nesbit Park. The 10K is Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. at Shelby Farms Park. Participants can register for the whole series or individual races.

Overton Park 10K Trail Race

The fifth annual Overton Park 10K Trail Race will be Jan. 30 at 8 a.m. on Jan. 30. The race is run entirely on the park’s trails. The race starts and ends at the Overton Park Golf Clubhouse.

Valentine’s Day 10K and 5K

The annual Bartlett Parks & Recreation Valentine’s Day 10K and 5K runs take place Feb. 13 at 9 a.m. at Bartlett Baptist Church.

Participants can run individually or in a couples sweetheart division.

Germantown Half Marathon and Mayor’s Cup 5K

The annual Germantown Half Marathon and Mayor’s Cup 5K benefitting Special Olympics will be March 13 at 7:30 a.m. The start and finish lines are at Germantown Athletic Club.

Whispering Woods & Twigs Half Marathon & 5K

The Whispering Woods & Twigs Half Marathon & 5K will be in Olive Branch at Whispering Woods April 2 at 8 a.m.

The Great Amazing Race Memphis

The Great Amazing Race is an adventure and obstacle race that covers 5K or 1 mile distances. The race will be April 3 at W.J. Freeman Park in Bartlett with a wave start that begins at 4 p.m.

Oak Hall Run for St. Jude

The annual Oak Hall Run for St. Jude will be May 1 at 3 p.m. The 3-mile course starts at the front doors of Oak Hall and circles around the area.

Mid-South Mud Run 5K

The Mid-South Mud Run 5K will be May 14 at 9 a.m. in Millington at Navy Lake.

Zoom Through the Zoo 4 Miler

The annual Zoom Through the Zoo 4 Miler takes place at the Memphis Zoo May 26.

Great American River Run

The Great American River Run is the newest addition to the annual Memphis in May International Festival. The event will feature a half marathon and 5K on May 28 at 8 a.m. with a race course that showcases the Mississippi River.

Harbortown 5K

The annual Harbortown 5K and 1 mile fun run for runners 12 and younger is June 3 in Mud Island’s Harbortown neighborhood. The fun run begins at 6 p.m. with the 5K starting at 7 p.m.

The Navy 10 Nautical Miler

The Navy 10 Nautical Miler covers 10 nautical miles at Naval Support Activity Mid-South in Millington on June 5 at 6 a.m.

Gibson Guitar 5K

The annual Gibson Guitar 5K is June 11 at 7 p.m. at the Gibson Guitar Factory in Downtown Memphis.

Memphis Stars and Stripes 5K

Kick off the July Fourth celebration with the Memphis Stars and Stripes 5K at Tiger Lane on July 3 at 7 p.m.

Elvis 5K

The annual Elvis Week Elvis 5K will be Aug. 13 at Graceland mansion.

Cooper Young Festival 4 Miler

The Cooper Young Festival 4 Miler is the Friday before the annual Cooper Young Festival.

Susan G. Komen Memphis-Mid-South Race for the Cure

The Memphis Race for the Cure will cover a 5K distance on Oct. 29 at 9 a.m. at AutoZone Park.

St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend

The St. Jude Memphis Marathon is Dec. 3 starting near FedExForum and running through the streets of Downtown and Midtown with the finish line at AutoZone Park. The weekend includes a 5K, half marathon and marathon, all benefitting St.

Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
