Memorial Day in Denver

Monday, May 25, 2015

Memorial Day in Denver unofficially kicks off summer in the Mile High City. Memorial Day always falls on the last Monday of May, and this year's holiday falls on Monday, May 25, 2015. Memorial Day weekend marks the opening of Water World in Arvada, Colo., as well as Arapahoe Park in Aurora, Colo. The Downtown Denver Arts Festival displays artwork over the weekend, and the Denver Day of Rock brings some rock 'n roll to the 16th Street Mall.

“The scheduling this year has created a ‘perfect storm’ of events, so in downtown we will have Denver Day of Rock with 25 bands, thousands of people in costumes for Denver Comic Con, a Rockies home stand and two art festivals, all at the same time,” said Richard Scharf, president of VISIT DENVER, in a statement. “Downtown will be packed with food trucks, free music, art displays, and very colorful crowds, all blending with the normal offerings of museums, 70 outdoor cafes and rooftop bars, breweries, shops and professional sports."
