Love it or hate it, lots of stores are open on Thanksgiving Day in Metro Detroit. The stores make it worth your while to venture out with a full stomach in cold weather by offering special sales and deals to stretch your Christmas dollar. While some national chains and local boutiques are gearing up to work on the holiday, malls and shopping centers are also starting to consider Thanksgiving Day fair game.

Listed below are the hours posted for Thanksgiving Day by store, shopping center or mall:

Stores Open on Thanksgiving Day

The stores listed below are mostly national chains and are just a sampling of the shopping available.

  • Barnes & Noble stores in the Metro-Detroit area will not be open on Thanksgiving Day.
  • Dunham's Sports stores will be open at 8 PM on Thanksgiving Day.
  • Gander Mountain will be open from 8 AM to Midnight on Thanksgiving Day.
  • Kmart stores will be open from 6 AM to 5 PM and opens again starting at 7 PM on Thanksgiving Day until 3 AM on Black Friday.
  • Sears stores will be open starting at 6 PM.
  • Toys'R'Us stores will open starting at 5 PM.
  • Walmart stores will be open starting at 8 PM.

Shopping Centers and Malls Open on Thanksgiving Day

Keep in mind that while the shopping centers and malls listed below may be open on the holiday, not every store they contain will be. For instance, Carson's Department Stores are not open on Thanksgiving Day.

  • Ann Arbor: Briarwood Mall is open from 6 PM to 1 AM on Thanksgiving Day.
  • Auburn Hills: Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills will be open from 6 PM to midnight on Thanksgiving Day.
  • Clinton Township: The Mall at Partridge Creek will not be open on Thanksgiving.
  • Dearborn: Fairlane Town Center is open from 8 PM to Midnight on Thanksgiving Day.
