Wood is a freelance writer with articles appearing in publications such as the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicleand various weeklies. She began writing, way back when, at her high school newspaper and then went to UCLA where she served as news editor of the Daily Bruin.

She has worked as the North Coast media coordinator for the Network for a Healthy California administered through the California Health Collaborative and in 2014 she joined the North Bay  Business Journal as a staff reporter.
