Eat.Bowl.Play. That's the tag line for Main Event, an entertainment destination for people of all ages. The Dallas-based chain has two locations in Arizona, Tempe on the east side of town and Avondale on the west, as well as more than 20 other entertainment centers in the U.S. There are activities here for all ages: bowling, laser tag, billiards, gravity ropes and electronic games. You'll find a full-service restaurant, a pizza and gelato café, and a bar for the adults. There are prizes and party spaces. Main Event is spacious, bright, loud, exciting and packed with fun.

    What Happens at Main Event

Bowling is the major attraction here. At the Tempe Center there are 20 lanes, all of which have state-of-the-art equipment, video screens -- you can personalize your scoring experience! The lanes are somewhat dark, employing colored lights and other effects to enhance the experience. Got little ones bowling with you? They even have bumpers that emerge and retract, depending on who's turn it is to bowl. Pricing for bowling is charged per lane, and not per hour, so if you have a family of six you'll get the best deal. Double-date? Why not find another couple to join and share the cost! You are welcome to bring your own bowling equipment, but if you don't have bowling shoes, you may rent them. Don't forget to being socks! What? You forgot? No worries. You can also get socks at Main Event.

Probably the next most popular activity at Main Event is Laser Tag, with a two-level arena. A session lasts about 15 minutes. Balance on bridges, ropes and planks high above the arcade on the Gravity Ropes. You'll be wearing a safety harness and there's a height requirement for this challenge. Hey you adults -- do you have a phobia about heights, or are you just afraid of being embarrassed up there? You can do it!

The billiard area features full-size, regulation tables that you can rent in half-hour increments as well as shuffleboard. The video and interactive games require use of the FUNCard. The gaming gallery offers options for all level of gamer, for individuals or with friends. Yes, you can play air hockey, too!

While you are walking from one fun thing to do to another fun thing to do, stop and check out the interactive floor in the center of the building!

    Food, Parties, Leagues, Corporate Meetings

    Main Event

Main Event elevates the fun and games with food, drinks, parties and meeting space.

    What about the food?
The dining options at Main Event are designed to be more than just snack food to keep people playing longer. The company wants their restaurant to be a destination. The stand-alone pizza café has reasonably priced specialty or create-your-own pizzas as well as a Kid's Menu and Smoothies. For a cool treat, try some gelato. Thanks for the unlimited fountain drinks! For a more traditional meal, farther away from the action, the full-service menu includes appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers, ribs, and more.

After dinner, adults might want to gather at the lounge where they'll find a full bar featuring premium liquors, wine and beer.

    Time to party!
Just about every entertainment venue has a party program, and Main Event is no different. There are packages for every celebration -- birthday parties (ages up to 15), school events, packages for tweens/teens ages 11 -18. If you are hosting ten or more kids for a fun time, Main Event has a package for you. Celebrating with your co-workers? If you have a group of ten or more you can arrange for an after work happy hour with drinks, food, reserved tables in the bar, billiards and shuffleboard. Going away party, bridal party or congratulating someone on a promotion? How about one of several choices for a buffet and a dessert bar? Sounds good to me!

    Let's conduct some business
Really? At an indoor amusement venue? Yes, really. Main Event has a business conference room, away from the noise (and with a separate music system) where you can have meetings, arrange for catering, and hopefully break for some team-building fun at the lanes, in the laser tag arena or even on the gravity ropes obstacle course. Or all three!

    What else?
As you might imagine, Main Event can be rented out in its entirety for any large party -- for a prom, for a reunion, a lock-in event or a company party.
