Make-up Art Cosmetics, known the world over as M.A.C., started as a provider of cosmetics to, yes, makeup artists, hence the name. Who knew? So the perception that M.A.C. is at the top of the list, quality wise, is well-founded in its history. The company is known for its bold colors and quirky collections -- Viva Glam riffs on celebrity makeup, Venomous Villains takes its cues from well-groomed if evil characters like Cruella de Vil and Maleficent, and Fabulous Felines -- well, you get the idea.
M.A.C. is big on social consciousness and does not test any of its products on animals and encourages recycling by rewarding the return of glass and plastic cosmetic containers with a free lipstick, lipgloss or eyeshadow.
M.A.C. Stores in Prague
The one most likely to be close is the main M.A.C. store in Prague on Wenceslas Square in the town center, which is near many hotels and tourist attractions. The other two are in shopping malls outside the city center; you'll find one in the Flora mall and the other at Chodov.
M.A.C. Products and Services
You'll find everything you could possibly need to make you feel and look magazine-cover great at M.A.C.: lipstick, lip gloss, lip pencil and lip primer; eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara and eye primer; foundation, powder, blush, concealer, face primer and BB cream; nail polish; moisturizers; brushes; and travel-size versions. Plus it always has loads of beauty-makers on sale, called "goodbyes."
If it's pouring rain or snowing in Prague and you have some time to spare, check out the services at M.A.C.; these are available at every stand-alone M.A.C. store. Its makeup pros will teach you how to apply cosmetics, well, like they do. You can get a quick (and free) demonstration even if you just have walked into the store, on the hunt for whatever you discovered you needed. If you want a professional application or lesson, make an appointment for a 30-, 60- or 90-minute session. With all this fun to be had, you just might be hoping for some bad weather.
