Things to Do in Los Angeles in November
Los Angeles in November is a month custom-made for a quick escape before holiday madness begins. You can enjoy a zany parade, check out the latest automotive trends, go to a top-notch film festival - or just enjoy early winter's smaller crowds and generally nice weather.
You'll have about 10 hours of daylight per day to explore Los Angeles in November. It won't affect how long the sun will be up, but Daylight Savings time ends in early November, which will push the clocks back and make it seem like the sun is setting later. Local attractions may change their hours.
November's Big Holiday: Thanksgiving Weekend
Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November.
The Hollywood Christmas Parade is held the Sunday evening after Thanksgiving. You might expect an extravaganza on par with a scene from "The Ten Commandments," but in fact, it's a far more modest production. That is, except for all the celebrities involved.
Los Angeles' Best November Events:... Recommendations
This is the short list of things I have done myself and recommend to my friends when they go to LA in November.
Held in Pasadena, the Doo Dah Parade is a quirky parody of the Rose Parade that feels like a small-town main street parade. That is, if that little procession morphed into a quirky, tongue-in-cheek extravaganza. Among the zaniness, you might see a flock of little Nash Ramblers or the Men of Leisure Synchronized Nap Team — and always, people throwing tortillas. Crowds are light enough that you can find a place to stand just a few minutes before it starts.
Things That Look Like Fun to Do in November
I'm sharing my LA bucket list here, a selection of events and things to do that look like fun.
The LA Auto Show is one of the world's biggest auto shows. You'll see more than 1,000 new models, tuned and customized rides, and concept cars on display. You can even take a test drive of almost 100 models. It starts in mid-November and usually runs through Thanksgiving weekend.
The month's big film event in LA is AFI Fest, sponsored by the American Film Institute. It showcases the best festival films of the year and it's the only festival of its stature that offers free individual tickets to screenings and events as a gift to the community.
The Color Run is unique enough to make you want to put on your Nikes and start training right now. It's a 5K run, but it's also a star-lit party. You'll find neon color zones on the course, get a glowing participant kit, and enjoy a glowing after-party. That 5K is only about 3 miles and best of all, it benefits Children's Hospital.Continue to 2 of 4 below.

More About Los Angeles in November
What to Expect from Los Angeles Weather in November
November is the beginning of Los Angeles' rainy season, bringing an end to predictably sunny days. Rain doesn't peak until January, but you can take a look at the data below and do the math. 80% of the time it's sunny so that only leaves about two days for the rain.
- Average High Temperature: 73°F/23°C
- Average Low Temperature: 54°F/12°C
- Rain & Clouds Index: 1.38 inches (3.5 cm) rain, 80% sunshine
Use the weather averages to get an idea of what things may be like, but it might be different when you visit. A winter day could even be so warm you'll wish you packed your shorts. And — of course — check the forecast, too.

What to Pack, What to Wear in Los Angeles in November
For rainy Los Angeles November days, take an umbrella and a rain jacket with hood. A mid-weight jacket will be enough on dry days. Unless you're going to the ski slopes, leave the heavy winter coat at home. Long-sleeved shirts and layers work best.

If you're trying to figure out the best month for your LA vacation, any time will be fine. You can use our monthly guides to find out more about events and what to expect all year long.
Spring season starts in March and extends through April and May. Signs of spring are subtle, but the weather is usually great — and except for spring break, attractions are still less crowded, up to the big holiday weekend at the end of May.
Summer busy season starts in June. So does the dreaded "June gloom" which can keep... the beach areas foggy all day long. It can extend into July, too. By August it will be hot —sometimes very hot and mostly clear.
After the big September holiday, things quiet down. Weather will still be good into October and the outdoor concert season extends into the middle of the month. November is variable. Sometimes it's more like fall and sometimes more like winter.
