Where to Get Married in Long Island Wine Country

Long Island wine country, on the island's East End, boasts a microclimate similar to that of Bordeaux, France. You'll find wonderful wineries and vineyards on the North Fork and some on the South Fork. Planning a future wedding? There's no need to rent a pricey space in Manhattan or beyond. Choose from the many reception sites in Long Island wine country.

    This family-owned vineyard began in the 1950s as an organic farm. Although no longer strictly organic, no herbicides are used on the vines today. BHFV produces a wide range of wines from their signature Merlot to Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Riesling and more. Celebrate your wedding reception here, with up to 200 guests.

    BHFV also has a horse rescue program. Started in 2007, the program has saved the lives of horses headed for the slaughterhouse. This includes "Sir Galahad," a descendant of the legendary "Man "O' War."

    From Memorial Day through mid-November, BHFV offers pony rides for the kids. All profits go to help support the horse rescue program.

    This North Fork winery is owned by Michael Lynne, former co-chairman and co-CEO of New Line Cinema and executive producer of the famous Lord of the Rings trilogy. The wines are produced from grapes grown on three vineyard sites. From Merlots to Chardonnays to Cabernet Franc and much more, Bedell offers a wide selection of wines.

    Treat yourself and up to 200 guests to a sumptuous reception at Bedell’s barn-style mahogany pavilion. Or choose from their other sites, including a fragrant lavender field, apple orchard or vineyard lawn. Or opt for the tasting room. Housed in a renovated barn, the room exhibits contemporary art from Michael Lynne’s private collection.

    Located on Main Road, just one mile east of Jamesport, this North Fork boutique winery blends almost all of their wines. They combine lots with different qualities to produce distinctive wines that go beyond the typical Merlots, Cabernet Francs or Chardonnays.

    You can rent the winery’s renovated tasting room that boasts mahogany doors and bluestone floors. Or opt for the covered outdoor patio with its vistas of the vineyard or the vineyard lawn for larger events. The VIP room is perfect for smaller, more intimate receptions.

    Laurel Lake Vineyards is the fourth oldest vineyard on the North Fork. They practice sustainable farming in the raising of their grapes to produce red, white and rosé wines, including Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and more.

    For a memorable wedding reception, you can rent the facilities for intimate affairs for 20 people or larger receptions for up to 200. Your own caterer may use the fully functional kitchen to provide food for your guests. The vineyards’ ample main hall features a wrap-around porch with a breathtaking view of the lush landscape.

    Owned and run by the Macari family since 1995, the vineyards were once home to potato fields. Now the area is an 180-acre vineyard with additional farmland, and home to cows, goats, Sicilian donkeys, and ducks. Joseph Macari, Jr. used biodynamic farming techniques from the very start. The winery doesn't rely on herbicides and fertilizers but uses rich compost and extensive soil preparation for more sustainable products.

    For your wedding celebration, bring your guests to Macari’s tasting room with its high, beamed ceiling, working fireplace and wrap-around porch. The covered deck comes with tables and chairs with views of the vines.

    Originally a potato farm and then a thoroughbred horse farm, Martha Clara Vineyards started out in 1995. Its founder, Robert Entenmann, was the grandson of Martha Clara and William Entenmann, known for their bakery, once the largest facility in the U.S.

    Martha Clara wines range from Pinot Grigio, Riesling, and Chardonnay to Merlot, Syrah, dessert wines and sparkling wines.

    The vineyards also offer a wide range of reception options for weddings small and large. Their tasting room/pavilion can host up to 150 people, while their Merlot field can accommodate large groups of up to 1000.

    Named for the majestic birds of prey that soar through the sky, Osprey’s Dominion Vineyards produces wines ranging from Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet, dessert wines, Long Island’s first Carmenere, and much more.

    Osprey’s Dominion offers an event planner who will help you with every detail of your wedding reception from start to finish.
