Laura Zavelson-Cox is a native of Durham.

Laura Zavelson-Cox wrote about the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area for TripSavvy in 2017. A native of Durham, she graduated from Duke University and returned to the Triangle area to raise her family.

She's written about her hometown for newcomers and business owners, working with the town of Cary, the Cary Chamber of Commerce, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce, the Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau, the Hillsborough Visitors Bureau, and the Apex Chamber of Commerce.

Her articles have appeared in The Bride's Book, Southern Neighbor, NC Hospitality, Triangle Tech Journal and more. She is also the author of Evenings for Two in the Triangle, a guide for couples seeking a romantic night out.


Laura holds an undergraduate degree in Public Policy with a minor in Film and Video Studies from Duke University. She earned her MBA from the University of Florida where she was named a Matherly Scholar. Her graduate concentrations were in entrepreneurship and marketing.
