In 2015, organizers ended Lake Tahoe Gay Ski Week after a 19-year run. The organizers of Elevation Mammoth Gay Ski Week and Elevation Utah Gay Ski Week in Park City created a new Elevation Lake Tahoe event in February 2015, but as of this writing, no plans had been announced for 2016. We'll post more information about any future events as information is released.
LGBT ski and snowboarding fans should keep in mind, however, that there is still one event in the Tahoe region, Snowball Gay Snow Festival at Northstar, held March 4 through March 6, 2016.
This stylish resort with some of the most fantastic skiing in the region offers lodging, gear rental, and lift-ticket discounts, other winter sports fun, and gay apres-ski and dance parties throughout the weekend.
This wild and rockin' winter sports celebration takes place at the north end of Lake Tahoe ski area, near the town of Truckee, about a 45-minute drive southwest of Reno, Nev., and 3.5 hours east-northeast of San Francisco).
Lake Tahoe covers a large area, so it's best to check with the different area tourism offices and visitors bureaus for more information on dining, lodging, and travel in the region. Tahoe South covers South Lake Tahoe, which is the heart of Lake Tahoe Winterfest; while North Lake Tahoe has the details on communities and resorts like Crystal Bay, Incline Village, Squaw Valley, Northstar, Truckee, and more. Finally, if you're planning to tack on some extra time up in Reno, check out the helpful LGBT travel site of the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority.
