She founded her popular alternative travel and lifestyle blog in 2007, and won "Best Blog of the Year" from Auxiliary Magazine. La Carmina is a TEDx Vancouver speaker, and published three books with Random House and Penguin. She hosts travel TV shows worldwide; perhaps you’ve seen her on Bizarre Foods, No Reservations, Taboo, Oddities, The Today Show, or The Doctors. La Carmina has visited over 70 countries, and spoken at worldwide conferences. In addition to Brides and Tripsavvy, she contributes to CNN, Fodor's, Business Insider, Yahoo, Sunday Times, Airbnb, Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, BBC, Roadtrippers, Home in Canada, Hong Kong Airlines Magazine, Google’s Touring Bird, and other publications.


La Carmina earned a law degree from Yale Law School, where she won a Grammy Entertainment Law writing award. She completed her undergraduate studies at Columbia University in New York, where she was named a Global Scholar, and graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
